Day 7

Weekly Truth

1 Timothy 4:7-9

BY She Reads Truth

Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the good news of Jesus with us wherever we go.

Over the course of this study, we will memorize 1 Timothy 4:7b–9, the key verses for our plan. Let’s begin by memorizing verse 7 and the first part of verse 8.

Write the passage out by hand, say it aloud, or test your knowledge with a friend!

Train yourself in godliness. For the training of the body has limited benefit, but godliness is beneficial in every way, since it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come. This saying is trustworthy and deserves full acceptance.

Excellent week of learning. I picked up John Mark Comers book, The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry. He was the guest on last Monday’s podcast. Two chapters in and I love how he is speaking truth to my soul. I really need to stop the hurry, stop the crazy pace of distraction the world is trying to stuff down my throat. We are to redeem our time here on earth. Time only exists for us. I want to be intentional in how I spend my life. Think the thought I think and not what “big tech” thinks I need to hear. I need to clear out the chaos to hear Jesus.

12Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity. 13Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation, to teaching. 14Do not neglect the gift you have, which was given you by prophecy when the council of elders laid their hands on you. 15Practice these things, immerse yourself in them, so that all may see your progress. 16Keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching. Persist in this, for by so doing you will save both yourself and your hearers.

Wanted to share a method for memorizing scripture with you all! When I learned this method 2 years ago it changed me! First, Break down the section into phrases, then repeat the first phrase rythmically and out loud 8 times. Add the 1st and 2nd phrase together, repeat 8 times. Add a 3rd phrase to the first 2, repeat 8 times. It’s important to create a rythym with your words and go slowly. It’s more about letting each word change you than being able to spout it off quickly! Hope that makes sense and helps!

I can see the image, but it’s not the right size to save as a lockscreen. All the previous lockscreen images are taller and narrower, this one is a different size.

To eat healthy food is to consume the Word of God.

To weigh in and check my progress is to pray in Jesus’ name.

To do cardio and keep my heart healthy is to train my heart every day through discipline, fellowship, and service.

    Training takes time.
