Day 14

Weekly Truth

from the Promises of God reading plan

Ephesians 1:7

BY She Reads Truth

Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the gospel with us wherever we go.

This week we will memorize a verse from Ephesians, a promise of the redemption we have in Jesus.

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace…
—Ephesians 1:7

Every time I read the opening for the weekly truth, I quote to myself Colossians 1:27b Christ in you, the hope of glory.

And Hebrews 8:10 “For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel
After those days, says the Lord:
I will put My laws into their minds,
And I will write them on their hearts.
And I will be their God,
And they shall be My people.

Memorizing it doesn’t cause us to carry the gospel.

Being reborn by the Spirit causes us to carry the gospel within us.

That’s the Gospel, that Jesus came, died, rose again and now resides in us.

Memorizing scripture happens as I read and re-read the scripture.

There’s nothing wrong with memorizing scripture and is good to do, but we if we don’t have this scripture or as many as another person, it does not make us less or more saved than any other person who has been reborn.

    Read your Bible.

This is a great foundational scripture about the power of the blood of Jesus. To be lavished with forgiveness and all other spiritual blessings. What a gift.

I’m forgiven! There are days when I have a hard time accepting this when I feel so underserved. But the bottom line? I am forgiven through the blood of Jesus Christ and I am grateful. Happy Mother’s Day to you all, my beautiful sisters!
