Day 14

Weekly Truth

from the Philippians reading plan

Philippians 4:8

BY She Reads Truth

Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the gospel with us wherever we go.

This week we will memorize this verse from Philippians 4, which reminds us to dwell on things of the Spirit.

Finally brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable—if there is any moral excellence and if there is anything praiseworthy—dwell on these things.
—Philippians 4:8

I have read this scripture probably hundreds of times over the years but this week it has opened up a new light for me. Thank you all for your words and stories. They start my days with hope. Blessings, grace and peace on this Sunday morning. ❤️

Churchmouse and Tina thank you for your sharing. Your words are a blessing & a reminder to walk with Jesus in the light even in dark times. My Mom was hospitalized for pneumonia last night. We live several hours away and weather can make it difficult to get to her. Fortunately, my sister is there & kept me posted. All prayers would be appreciated. My Mom, Jackie, is in her mid eighties. Thank you each and every one of you.

My apologies for not commenting on today’s WORD! I just know in my heart that this is a safe and a comfortable place where I can come and ask for prayer of my sisters.

Sisters, yesterday morning my son text me urgently! The first text was one word. “Mom”. Once I saw that I knew something was going on. I was getting ready for a long distance run with our kids from school but I had to stop and read his text messages. Sisters… A fellow student, a friend and coworker to my son was struck by a Truck on Friday night severely injuring him and is in critical condition. Since then he’s had a few surgeries. His name is Nathan Lewis but goes by Nate. Let us lift them up to our Lord Jesus Christ. Updates are being posted on CaringBridge.

    Scripture is the TRUTH,

  6. Churchmouse says:

The NLT says to “fix your thoughts” on these things. Fix as in adhere yourself to. Nail these thoughts down. Let them be your default thoughts. That will certainly take some conscious effort until this way of thinking becomes habit. But what a much happier, much lighter, much more optimistic way to live. These thoughts will keep us in a state of hope. Which we surely are to be as Christians. So let us begin each day thinking this way. Others will surely take note and Jesus will be pleased. Joyful, joyful, we adore Him – let our thoughts and our faces reflect just that.

    Blessed Sunday to you all!
