Day 35

Weekly Truth

from the Genesis reading plan

Genesis 50:20

BY She Reads Truth

Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the gospel with us wherever we go.

In this week’s verse, Jacob extends kindness and forgiveness to his brothers, demonstrating his trust in God’s ultimate goodness and sovereignty.

You planned evil against me; God planned it for good to bring about the present result—
the survival of many people.
—Genesis 50:20

What Gid taught me over this study:
God created everything. He made it all good!! Even before the fall and of course after, we start to see God’s character. We start to see the unfailing love of God!! We start to see redemption, forgiveness, mercy, and grace!! We start to see how God’s good and perfect plan always transcends!! We start to see the promises that a HOPE IS COMING! We start to see the promises that a SAVIOR IS COMING – JESUS IS COMING!!!

    It’s Joseph, not Jacob :)

Listening to this week’s podcast really struck me connected to this verse!

Which side of the semicolon will I live on? “You meant evil against me” The side that looks at what people have done to me? Hurt, resentment, anger? Or the other side that focuses on God and how He uses ALL things for good “God turned it into good” He can turn a situation that seems unfair and broken to us, and in the exact same moment – semicolon – turn it for good for me and those around me. I may not see it at the time, but I can trust and KNOW that God is working on my behalf in EVERY instance.

Like I said yesterday I really enjoyed this study. I couldn’t wait as I woke up each morning to dig into The Word with all of you. I learned so much from the devotions as well as all of you here. Blessings to all of you.

After Jesus, Joseph has been my favorite person in the Bible since I was tiny…and I still have so much to learn about him and God and how what they accomplished together should affect my life!!
