Day 21

Weekly Truth

from the Genesis reading plan

Genesis 26:24

BY She Reads Truth

Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the gospel with us wherever we go.

This week we will memorize a verse spoken by God to Isaac, reassuring Isaac of God’s presence with him.

“I am the God of your father Abraham. Do not be afraid, for I am with you.”
—Genesis 26:24

You know ladies, I opened my laptop with much fear, anxiousness, and trepidation. I have gotten behind in my seminary/grad school work, and I have a big event today for the ministry I help direct. I have so many thoughts about how I want it to go. But this is perfect for me today. To set my lock screen and to set my heart upon this truth, that the God of Abraham is walking with me through the college campus and I need not be afraid both in school work and in ministry. I operate from walking alongside with the victor. Lord give me this assurance today, that you are with me.

Churchmouse thank you, I reflect your thoughts exactly. Ina minute my fears can overwhelm me . I have teenage boys. Your reminder is what I need that God is always able and with us.

  3. Tiffany Monczewski says:

How amazing it is that the God of Abraham is MY God, too!

  4. Sue says:

    Love the present tense.

I AM the God of your father Abraham,
    not I was.

    I AM with you,
not I was, or I will be someday.

Present tense, right now. God is with us.

The older I get the more fraught with danger the world seems. Perhaps I’m just more aware of the larger world around me than when I was younger when my universe revolved mainly around me. My imagination can take me to the land of “what if” in a matter of seconds. But I’m a Christian and I know that this fear is not of God. So I put up my stop sign and remind myself that God (GOD!) is with me. Though I may feel I am not able, He is. All that I need, He has and will provide. These truths slow my breathing and correct my thinking. What do I have to fear when Jesus is near? Not. One. Thing.

God is so good. Nothing is impossible. Everything you need will be provided. He IS life!

    Amen Audrey, amen!

Thank you Audrey for this, so encouraging!

  8. Audrey Flores says:

For as long as I can remember I have been an over thinker. I analyze every thought I have and every action I take in a day. I often question a step in my faith journey a 100 times before, during, and after the step. I know it’s a habit I picked up from my traumatic childhood. Last summer I tried reading Genesis on my own power and didn’t succeed. In the time where I needed to know that God is with me everywhere and will provide for me, He freely have it to me in this study. Ladies He truly has a hand in every moment, situation, and experience in our lives. He will use our pain for greatness that we cannot imagine. I pray that all of us will put this scripture into our heart and praise Him on the journey because He is with us.
