Day 21

Weekly Truth

from the Galatians reading plan

Galatians 5:22–23

BY She Reads Truth

Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the gospel with us wherever we go.

Throughout Paul’s letter to the Galatians, he encourages believers to walk in the Spirit. This week, we’ll memorize Galatians 5:22–23, a non-exhaustive list of qualities cultivated in believers as we follow Him.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
—Galatians 5:22–23

I can’t help it. But this verse reminds me of the song that my kids used to sing at VBS year after year. When they became seventh graders they went back and volunteered in VBS and this song continued. I know one thing. They memorized it and I pray that they not only memorized it BUT hide it in their hearts.

Churchmouse, I am praying for your granddaughter.

  3. Churchmouse says:

    Dear friends,
Our five year old granddaughter Julia is returning to school tomorrow. There is some residual effect from the procedure on her lower lip which will be noticeable. Please pray that the students and staff will be kind and welcoming. She is so eager to return to her small kindergarten class. She has kept up with her schoolwork and with memorizing the weekly Bible verses. We’re grateful that she is in a Christian school with such caring and sensitive folks. Yet we also know children, and some adults, do not always filter their words or their facial reactions. Our daughter has kept Julia’s teacher and the school nurse informed of what to expect and how to care for her lower lip throughout the school day. Please join us in praying for a great day back for her.
Thank you. Know that I make note of your requests /needs /concerns and I consider it a privilege to pray for you as well.

Praying for your granddaughter churchmouse. My children also attend a Christian school, and I have found the children to be very kind in these sorts of situations. I pray your granddaughter has a similar experience.

      Praying xxx

Churchmouse, amen to that. You are one of the ones I’m praying for. I don’t know if you’ll see this, since I can never see anything I post.

  5. Sue says:

The fruit of the Spirit will not happen in my life by working harder, by following the law, and is impossible to produce on my own.

May I instead abide in in Jesus and may my life be fruitful as a result.

Thank you, SRT for another wonderful study. How precious it is to meet in this sacred space with so many others. How encouraging that in this hard life there remain many believers committed to serving our Lord. I’m humbled by those who post that they are praying and who so vulnerably post their personal trials. I see the fruit of the Spirit exhibited here.

You are so encouraging! Churchmouse, your godly wise words of wisdom remind me so much of my CR sponsor. I’m grateful for my two mentors in my life. One that I can see and speak to her personally and one here at SRT that speaks to my heart daily. You. I’m praying for you. Thank you for praying for me. I appreciate your personal post just for me.

  7. Melissa Graves says:

“Create in me a clean heart, oh God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation and sustain me with a willing spirit. Then I will teach transgressors Your way and sinners will be converted to You.” (Psalms 51:10-13)

When a seed has been planted it brings forth its fruit in season. I am planting flower seeds at my son’s home in the hope that next year there will be Heliopsis (false sunflowers), Gaillardia (fiesta daisies), Shasta Daisies, and Blackberry Lilies growing next year. Seeds are specific to species and the fruit or flower that is produced.

If we say we are His then we will bear fruit that is true to the seed of the Holy Spirit. We will see, more importantly others will see love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control from us.

May God grant us the courage to allow the Holy Spirit to place His seed deep within us and may it be cultivated through reading God’s Word and Prayer. The fruit of the Holy Spirit could, no would change the world.
