Psalm 34:7
BY She Reads Truth
Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the gospel with us wherever we go.
On day 18, we read the story of Shiphrah and Puah, two Egyptian midwives who feared God and defied the orders of Pharaoh to protect God’s people. This week we’ll memorize Psalm 34:7, a verse from that day celebrating God’s goodness and power to protect those who seek refuge in Him.
The angel of the LORD encamps
around those who fear him, and rescues them.
–Psalm 34:7

I love this imagery…that is what I am going to picture from now on when I need to focus on his nearness and protection.

I am the lost sheep that He left to look for. Over and over, He made himself known to me, despite my blatant refusal of Him. I am proof God does not give up on us! We are His chosen children. He will always love us, no matter what!

I know that I know that I am protected. My children are protected. It is a great comfort to know I am not alone. And for that I am so grateful to my God. He promises never to leave us or forsake us. I am a testimony that this is true. Though I felt scared and not knowing what next I know one thing for sure HE has NEVER left my side.

I love this Chris Tomlin song and will sing praises to my loving and protecting God now and forever more–
You hear me when I call
You are my morning song
Though darkness fills the night
It cannot hide the light
Whom shall I fear
You crush the enemy
Underneath my feet
You are my sword and shield
Though troubles linger still
Whom shall I fearI know who goes before me
I know who stands behind
The God of angel armies
Is always by my side
The one who reigns forever
He is a friend of mine
The God of angel armiesIs always by my side
My strength is in your name
For you alone can save
You will deliver me
Yours is the victory
Whom shall I fear
Whom shall I fearI know who goes before me
I know who stands behind
The God of angel armies
Is always by my side
The one who reigns forever
He is a friend of mine
The God of angel armies
Is always by my sideAnd nothing formed against me shall stand
You hold the whole world in your hands
I’m holding on to your promises
You are faithful
You are faithful
Nothing formed against me shall stand
You hold the whole world in your hands
I’m holding on to your promises
You are faithful
You are faithful
You are faithfulI know who goes before me
I know who stands behind
The God of angel armies
Is always by my side
The one who reigns forever
He is a friend of mine
The God of angel armies
Is always by my sideI know who goes before me
I know who stands behind
The God of angel armies
Is always by my side
The one who reigns forever
He is a friend of mine
The God of angel armies
Is always by my side

I love how this verse is so comforting to me. To think that the angel of the Lord is “encamped” around me just shows how much God is with us and wants to protect us from harm. This is a great encouragement for today!
-
I take great comfort that our God protects his children. We can rest in the fact that he is with us through all of life’s battles. Praise be to God!
-
God circles His wagons around me and He stands with me in the center. He is my shield, my defender and the Commander in Chief. His angel army awaits His orders to do battle on my behalf. They are always victorious. I am in awe of His power and His great care for me.

This verse reminds me that God Almighty, the God of the Angel Armies, the God who orders the very angel to encamp around me and others who worship and adore Him, loves me with an active and powerful, neverending love. And just that thought fills me with awe, wonder, and gratitude. All praise be to the Most High God, the King of kings and Lord of lords, forever and ever. Amen.
