Day 14

Weekly Truth

Psalm 63:1

BY She Reads Truth

Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the gospel with us wherever we go.

This week we’ll memorize a verse we read together after Leah’s story on day 12. Written by David, Psalm 63:1 is an encouragement to us that we can cry out to God in every circumstance.

God, you are my God; I eagerly seek you.
I thirst for you;
my body faints for you
in a land that is dry, desolate, and without water.
—Psalm 63:1

    Actually that is not correct. Jesus gives us the Lords prayer.

    Matthew 6:9-13 (ESV)[29]

    “Pray then like this: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.'”

    The sermon at my church today was about praying, specifically, praying like Jesus. It’s not recorded in the Bible what Jesus prays when it mentions he is praying. When we pray, we tend to do – couple of things: give thanks, and ask for help. My pastor pointed out it isn’t really important what we are praying- it’s what are we hearing. Jesus was listening to God when he prayed. They had a very deep relationship, one where talking wasn’t always necessary. I urge you today in your thirst for God to simply say “lord Jesus” and listen in silence. God often spoke to people in the Bible while they were sleeping… because they weren’t talking, their bodies and minds were at rest, ready to listen. Sometimes we are praying and praying for something, but God is waiting for us to listen to Him about something else. Lord Jesus, God, I am listening.
