Psalm 121:1-2

BY She Reads Truth

Memorizing Scripture is one of the best ways to carry God-breathed truth, instruction, and reproof wherever we go.

For this study of the Psalms of Ascent, we will memorize the 121st psalm together, a few verses at a time. The first two verses direct our eyes to the true source of our help: God alone.

I lift my eyes toward the mountains.
Where will my help come from?
My help comes from the LORD,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
– Psalm 121:1-2

Write this passage down and post it on your mirror or at your desk, in your car or on the fridge—anywhere you’ll see it often. Save the image below as your phone’s lock screen so you can read these words of truth throughout the day.

We want to be a community that is intentional about Scripture memorization. Will you join us?

This is a song for the anxious and afraid! Our Helper is our Keeper. The One who watches over us does not sleep. The One who guards our souls cannot be moved. The God who paints the fields with wildflowers and tends to the sparrows is the same God who cares for us. No problem is too great or too small for our Lord. He cares about each and every one of us, deeply. Thank you Lord for this beautiful life!

Memorizing scripture and speaking it over my life has been a shield, armor, and weapon altogether. So powerful!

I recently lost somebody I love very much. The thing that has helped me get through this is all those verses I memorized years ago coming back to me when I needed them most. Scripture memorization is very important. We have no idea the moments where memorizing them for — they may be for years from now.

  4. Love memorizing scripture -and this one is a fav. (The hard part for me is remembering the numbers of the chapter and verse! –NOT a numbers gal) Just a quick note to the SRT team. While pink IS my fav color-the pale pink is hard for old eyes to read on the lock screen. Just a thought to ponder. Thank you! Love this study!

I think it’s interesting that God uses a lot of mountain analogies in his passages. Just a thought…

Every time our family went on a road trip my Dad read this passage. It is near and dear to my heart. I am thrilled to commit it to memory.
