Day 5

Waiting and Preparing

from the This Is the Church reading plan

John 14:1-3, Titus 2:11-13, Matthew 25:1-13, 2 Peter 3:8-13, James 5:7-8, Psalm 130:5-6

BY She Reads Truth

Since 2012, She Reads Truth has maintained a singular mission: to be women in the Word of God every day. Ten years later, our community includes “Shes” from across the globe, but our mission hasn’t changed.

Reading Scripture together is the centerpiece of what we do at She Reads Truth. As we spend time as a community reading This Is The Church, we encourage you to start by reading the daily Scripture on your  own. Then join us here to engage and encourage one another as we respond to what we’ve read. Each day for this series, we’ll include a brief summary of the reading along with a prompt for conversation.

The Church exists in response to Jesus’s first coming and continues on in anticipation of His promised return. Through all circumstances we are called to live in such a way that our present faith and obedience reflect our future, glorious hope.

Discussion Question: Who can you encourage with what you’ve learned this week?

Take time to reflect on your Scripture reading and share with others in the community in the comments.

I can encourage my social media followers, a lot who are not Christian.

  2. Amanda Browning says:

I will continue to encourage myself. I’ve found myself looking at the daily readings for a sense of comfort and a reminder to be patient with the our current situation at home. I desperately want to be the stay at home parent of our 2.5yr old twins, however I know that financially it makes sense for me to be the parent working and my husband at home with the twins

  3. Hannah Brown says:

My brother is going through a bitter divorce after infidelity was committed against him. He just wants to give up and give in. He has steered away from God and focused on his journey towards “happiness”. I’m going to work to encourage him and show him Gods love

people i come in contact with. Even if it is just me sharing the gospel it can make an impact on someone’s life.

  5. Meagan Warlick says:

I can encourage those in periods of waiting because I know all too well what it feels like to wait on the Lord’s promises!! It’s not always easy to be patient, but when he brings you into what’s he’s promised for you, it’s always so rewarding!

  6. Katelyn Steele says:

Rebecca- Christianity became appealing to me when I encountered someone who was humble in their faith and open about their messiness. It was those who seemed to have it all together and were Christian that made me think Christianity maybe wasn’t for me. “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.” Mark 2:17. God can use you as His vessel exactly where you are right now.

  7. Katie Winch says:

I can encourage friends who have left the Church for different reasons to reconsider the gospel

  8. Melissa Mcronney says:

    Amen…
