The book of Proverbs is a guide for pursuing godly wisdom in our daily lives. In this four-week study, we will read a selection of topical proverbs covering different aspects of wisdom, from how to interact with our friends, families, and neighbors, to fearing God and keeping His commands. No matter the subject, these proverbs urge us to wrestle with and reflect on our own response to them. To help you better engage with the proverbs in this reading plan, we have provided you with a short introduction and reflection questions for each day.
As fallen people in a fallen world, we are susceptible to seduction, or being lured by false promises. But as followers of Jesus who have the Holy Spirit, the wisdom of God is available to us in every situation we face. Both of these truths call us to pay attention to the wisdom found in Scripture. These proverbs call us to examine how seduction and strength work in our lives.

What is the God-given longing of your heart that lies beneath the desire you just named?
What do you think Proverbs 25:28 means? Take time to remember and reflect on when this proverb has been true in your own life?

I have the same weakness but with salty things. I started drinking Fresh Ginger, cinnamon and date tea to fill up the cravings and prayed for the Lord to help me focus on him and fast in the morning on Saturday to allow him to work in prayer.

Lately my most powerfully seductive voice I listen to centers around food. Specially sweets & I have little self control to resist eating things that I know aren’t good for me. I think I’ve been gravitating to them to help me feel good or gratify a craving for a short minute. I need to look to God and ask him to help me with my self control in this area.

The most seductive thing in my life right now would be hatred for persons with differing views from myself. With the election, I found myself getting so angry with my friends on social media- these people who I adored in normal settings were saying things that I didn’t agree with and I felt so frustrated. It took a lot for me to remind myself that we all see the world through different lenses and this is actually what started my relationship with god. I began praying for understanding and compassion because I was so sick of letting the sin and anger and darkness take over me.

The seductive voice of having friends who feed me attention and praise. I was addicted to FB for the “likes” and I didn’t get as many likes as other friends and I felt rejected and jealous. I stopped posting to get validation. The idol of friends is a big one God is tearing down for me. Underneath this idol is the fear of being rejected, lonely, left out, and validation. I need to appreciate the friends I have in my life and not long for the ones others have. I don’t want to get caught up in how many “likes” I get.
My comfort zone with a certain community I am a part of is not acceptable to God and I see him replacing that for more Godly ways which is huge. He’s moving mountains.
He’s moved mountains to change a lot my life so I will not have idols.
No FB posting (huge as I was addicted)
Separating me from a group I was in for 10 years.
Ridding my love and need for certain friends.
Cherishing my friendships that matter and are good for me.
Homeschooling my kids (they asked for it before Covid)
Prioritizing my healthThe tower represents to me a quiet place to get away from the rush of life, the overbearing and wicked culture and stay sane.

I’m so thankful all my life God has been with me and has never left me no matter the circumstances He has seen me through. Things work for my greatest good. I have a deeper relationship with Him and desire an even deeper relationship.

I’m thankful that God has taken my walls down – walls of my heart so that I can show others his love, walls of my Spirit so I can let Him in and guide me, and walls to my fears so that I can live for Him every day with no fear of being ridiculed!
