Copy Editor
She Reads Truth is looking to add a part-time copy editor to our team. We’re looking for a highly-skilled, detailed-obsessed, professional copy editor with experience working independently. This editor loves the Oxford comma, knows the difference between an en-dash and an em-dash, and can bring precision and care to everything they review. This position is for an experienced copy editor who loves editing, not a writer who is willing to edit.
This role will be responsible for editing original copy for She Reads Truth, He Reads Truth, and Kids Read Truth, including printed products, online devotionals, marketing emails, social captions, and design assets. The copy editor is a new position for our company, so the ideal candidate will be comfortable working with us to establish rhythms and flows for this role.
Primary Responsibilities
- Ensure written marketing and editorial content is correct per brand standards
- Building and implementing a style guide for digital assets
- Maintaining our internal style guide for printed materials
- Use Google Suite and Adobe InCopy to edit electronically
- Fact-check accuracy of content for consistency across the brand and with other resources
- Working with existing team to establish workflows and rhythms within a new production flow
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, or similar field of study
- 2+ years of professional copy editing experience
- Knowledge of AP and Chicago
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well with multiple departments
- Ability to remain detailed-oriented and focused when processing large amounts of text
- Ability to manage multiple projects
- Willingness to learn the SRT Style Guide and bend rules when it suites the brand’s needs
To Apply: Please only apply if you meet the above qualifications. Please send a cover letter and resumé to [email protected] with the subject line “Copy Editor: [YOUR NAME].”
For a candidate with the right experience, this could be a fully remote position within the USA.
She Reads Truth is an equal opportunity employer.
