Day 6

Grace Day

from the Ecclesiastes reading plan

James 3:17

BY She Reads Truth

Take this day to catch up on your reading, pray, and rest in the presence of the Lord.

But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peace-loving, gentle, compliant, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without pretense.
—James 3:17

In this age of information and in the polarizing world that we live in, I often find myself wanting to be right more than wanting to love my neighbor. I love this verse in James 3:17 because it helps me see what true wisdom from the Holy Spirit looks like. Praying for this wisdom in my life and thankful that God has promised to give it to anyone who asks. Definitely adding this verse to my scripture memorization list!

Praying for wisdom that can only come from Gpd. Please pray for my parents and my sister today, as they will be talking on the phone about a miscommunication that was had with my sister. I told my parents about my conversation with her, and I told my sister too that she should talk directly with them, so that they can hear it directly from her. From our conversation, she kept bringing up my parents and brother, and I said that she should try to talk directly with them so they can try to reconcile whatever it is between them. Please pray for my family today, for unity and that reconciliation would happen.

This verse says it all about the wisdom of God, Christ and the Holy Spirit. If I/we have the this wisdom then what else is needed. I want this wisdom Lord. Guide me in Your wisdom and ways, allow me to follow You and Your teachings. I crave to learn more about You and Your Son, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. Watch over this group of Christian sisters, watch over my family and watch over this world as we struggle through these difficult and troubled times of sickness and confusion. Lord, I pray you help my sister, Carol, who still struggles with the death of her daughter, Molly. She is having a hard time concentrating to get her work down. Help her clients to understand so they won’t leave her. Bring peace upon her the peace that can only come from knowing You. Wrap Your loving arms around her in a big hug since right now no one else but her son is able to. Lord watch over the Murphy family, Finley who I take care of and who can’t understand why her favorite sister can’t hold or pick her up right now. Help Kyla, Finley’s sister, heal from her surgery quickly so she can start playing with and helping with Finley again. And Lord, help the parents and other sister with care of the two of them. Amen

I’ve learned that the world hates this kind of wisdom. It’s counter cultural to be wise, gentle, and peace loving. It takes a strong walk with the Lord to lead others in this way. Lord, help me be wise but also strong when the world pushes back. May I put your love for others above all else.

Thank you for this beautiful reminder.

That was a good reminder Churchmouse. I’ve been part of the SRT reading plans now for this year and I’m not only enjoying the study daily, but the comments from SRT sisters are enlightening and giving me so much more to think about and act on. Learning from others is the way that I can continue to grow within my journey and I’m blessed to have this opportunity. Our words have so much more power than we usually care to admit. This causes me to think about how I communicate with everyone. I need to do a much better job daily to control my words and look to Jesus before speaking and ask for wisdom in what I say to all God’s children. Have a blessed weekend to all.

Back up to verse 13 of James 3 and read through verse 18. The comparison between the two kinds of wisdom is striking. One is based on man’s efforts (which are always selfish) and one is based on a relationship and dependence on God (which is always generous). May we pray for wisdom, Godly wisdom, that we might be effective ambassadors for Him.
