Day 14

Grace Day

from the Advent 2019: A Thrill of Hope reading plan

John 1:14

BY She Reads Truth

Advent is a season of anticipation and celebration. The weary world rejoices at the Messiah’s first Advent, even as we long for His return. Use this day to pray, rest, and reflect on the hope we have because Christ left the glories of heaven to be born in Bethlehem.

The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. We observed his glory, the glory as the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
—John 1:14

Praying I can reflect that hope in the midst of the weariness. May others see His glory in me, especially as I am blessed to sing tonight and tomorrow night in our” choir concert, “God With Us.”

Is there anything that incites more hope than a baby? Babies are in the forefront of my mind right now because I’m spending a lot of time helping care for our 2 month old twin grandsons and their 2 year old big sister. I’m thinking a lot this year about the humanity of our Savior. I find it interesting that God chose to focus on his birth story and his adult ministry and not much else. I think it’s to remind us that he willingly set aside his rights as God (Philippians 2) and became fully human, and yet still fully God and fully able to save us. The mystery and wonder of the season fills me anew with hope.

I’m utterly in awe of the one who created us, who is the Word, and came to dwell with us in the flesh. What grace and truth, for sure!

It’s hard for me to sleep in. Went to bed actually earlier than normal last night and thought I was going to Sleep 8+ hours, but no! My body automatically wakes up. But that’s OK I slept enough and I look forward to meeting all of you here at SRT. And I don’t know where I’ve been and had no idea that there was a podcast. Going on my long distance run right now and looking forward to listening to the podcast and catch up. I know this comment had nothing to do with the scripture today but I am thankful for all of you here at SRT and for all your faithful prayers. I look forward to meeting with all of you here each morning and someday we will all meet face-to-face. Have a blessed day.
