Day 20

Grace Day

from the Galatians reading plan

Hosea 10:12

BY She Reads Truth

Use this day to pray, rest, and reflect on this week’s reading, giving thanks for the grace that is ours in Christ.

Sow righteousness for yourselves
and reap faithful love;
break up your unplowed ground.
It is time to seek the LORD
until he comes and sends righteousness
on you like the rain.
—Hosea 10:12

But when the verse says ‘Sow righteousness’ what does this mean? Is it a state of mine or a tangible thing?

Last year, when I was engaged to my now husband, this verse came up in my reading and it made a big impression on my mind and heart that made sure I wouldn’t forget it. We were really struggling with purity… as hard as it is to admit, we struggled so much and I was so confused by it. That night we fell into a moment of temptation whilst sitting in the car, and this verse made a bang in my heart. So I stopped what I was doing, grabbed my bible, I read this verse out loud, and after a few seconds it started raining. Like heavy heavy rain. We cried, it was very bitter sweet, we were met with so much rebuke and grace in the same moment.
I hold this verse very close to my heart, knowing with full confidence that God will ultimately save me from my brokenness, and he says to me “neither do I condemn you, now go and leave your life of sin”
Lord, thank you for your grace, that you that your grace abounds so much deeper and overflows so much more than what I need to be satisfied! Please strengthen me to say no to sin so I may live in a way that is true to who I am: that is, your ambassador, daughter, coheir with Christ, and a member of the kingdom which is my true home. Thank you Lord. Amen.

    Yes, Lord!

  5. Sue says:

What am I sowing into my life today?
It will determine what will my harvest be.

  6. Churchmouse says:

    Hosea 10:12 NLT:
I said, “Plant the good seeds of righteousness, and you will harvest a crop of love. Plow up the hard ground of your hearts, for now is the time to seek the Lord, that he may come and shower righteousness upon you.”

Yes, Lord, I admit my heart needs some surgery. The hard ground of stubbornness and disobedience needs the skilled touch of the Great Physician. Have at it, Lord, for I desire more of you and less of me. Amen.

    1. Cathy Simpkins says:

As I watch the tractors plowing the fields after the harvest, where I live in Idaho, it gives me such a beautiful picture of this verse. Yes, Lord, plow up any hard ground in my heart. May Your name be praised.
