Day 20

Grace Day

Ephesians 5:1–2

BY She Reads Truth

Use this day to pray, rest, and reflect on this week’s reading, giving thanks for the grace that is ours in Christ.

Therefore, be imitators of God, as dearly loved children, and walk in love, as Christ also loved us and gave himself for us, a sacrificial and fragrant offering to God.
—Ephesians 5:1–2

We can’t be Jesus, but we can sure try! That old saying, WWJD? What would Jesus do? We need to get back to that, especially with our children. My grandparents keep a card on top of their television that says “Would Jesus watch this with you?” How we live our lives is important because you never know who is watching you, and what impact you are making on that person.

I’m lately realizing that trying to be Jesus is poison. So often we get caught up in the trying, as if our pitiful tries amount to something- we look up at God like a toddler saying, look at all that I’m doing. What weakness there is in that. I must throw myself on grace and realize that the Holy Spirit can enable me to be Christ to the world, without my striving and working. Ugh, I so wish to better embody this as God is putting it on my heart. I have always been someone who has tried so hard, but it’s not enough. It never will be. God grace is sufficient for me.
