Day 20

Grace Day

from the Psalms for Prayer reading plan

Philippians 4:6-7

BY She Reads Truth

Use today to pray, rest, and reflect on this week’s reading, giving thanks for the grace that is ours in Christ.

Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
—Philippians 4:6-7

I have always applied this verse in my life during times of trouble. Today I read it from a place of peace not anxiety. I read it in a time when I would not say I was running to God for help but from a place of doing pretty well right now and hanging out with The Father and the Word.

    And yet…
“present your requests to God” struck me. My husband is often saying to me “Ask Him for it.” I often feel unworthy to ask for more. I have been given so much that I don’t deserve already, that I don’t feel worthy of asking for more.

And yet… I am a child of God. He WANTS to show His love for me. I am worthy because Christ made me worthy. We hear so much about how we deserve only death and eternal damnation, but I honestly don’t feel some of us have heard enough that we are worthy of God’s love and His gifts because through Christ we are now princes and princesses in God’s kingdom.

So today I say “Ask. Ask your Daddy for a gift. Ask your Father for what you need. Ask the King, your Father, to bless you, His child.”
