BY She Reads Truth
Use today to pray, rest, and reflect on this week’s reading, giving thanks for the grace that is ours in Christ.
He said to them, “Whenever you pray, say,
Father,
your name be honored as holy.
Your kingdom come.
Give us each day our daily bread.
And forgive us our sins,
for we ourselves also forgive everyone
in debt to us.
And do not bring us into temptation.”
—Luke 11:2-4

We know God doesn’t tempt anyone, so this prayer is telling us to pray for God to direct us around situations that may lead us into sin.

Lord, thank you for this beautiful life. At times, I feel that I don’t deserve it, but I will do my best to honor You by using the gifts You have given me to do good. May I always seek your face— both in times of trouble and times of joy. You are my rock and my fortress. Thank you for Your everlasting love!

Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Sometimes forgiving myself seems the hardest thing to do.

I agree and have felt many times that I don’t deserve forgiveness of myself because I am inadequate and flawed in the first place. Then I reflect on how mercy from the Father fits in the whole forgiveness scheme. I then wonder am I being humbled or sorrowfully ashamed that it does a number on my conscience. I have asked the Father for forgiveness for many many of my vices and then I remember we’re all sinners who need forgiveness regularly and will need to forgive ourselves as well as others. Hard to manage sometimes when guilt sets in!
