God is self-giving, showing mercy and grace toward all creation, especially toward His people.
“God is love” (1 John 4:16). He is always loving—even when He disciplines, even when He judges. It’s who He is. And this divine love is infinite, meaning it is bigger than we could ever imagine, even if we had a thousand lifetimes with which to ponder it. If we were to taste a full dose of God’s love, it would knock us, quite literally, out of our socks. We would be unable to stand in the presence of such passion.
We were made for God’s love, so it shouldn’t surprise us that the enemy of God’s people chooses to sow doubt at this critical place in our souls. Concerning the forbidden fruit in the garden, the serpent told Eve, “God knows that when you eat it your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and evil” (Genesis 3:5). In other words, we believe the lie that God is somehow holding out on us, that He does not really love us. It worked with Adam and Eve, and the devil has been using this same tactic ever since.
We tend to filter what the Bible tells us about the love of God through our experience of love with people who, like us, love imperfectly. The Bible gives us a definition of love in 1 John, imploring us to not define love on our own terms, through our own broken experiences, but instead to see love from heaven’s perspective: “Love consists in this: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins” (1 John 4:10).
Everything God does is loving. But His love is most clearly seen on the cross, because God’s love is sacrificial. He gives Himself for the good of those whom He loves. His love for us is true. There are holes in the hands of our Savior to prove it (John 20:27). Those holes are evidence of God’s love, declaring loudly that He does not withhold a single good thing from us, no matter what the enemy may try to tell us.

I so needed this reminder today that God is love. Just before reading this I was journaling and praying. In that time I realized that I have been fearing God, not in the way that he wants us to fear him but fear of failure fear of judgment or condemnation.

This was such a wonderful thing to read before Easter… and I especially loved reading the following verse after John 3:16… i think we forget sometimes that God’s Love is sacrificial and He loved us so much that He had Jesus die on the cross!

Wow – needed this so badly today! I loved where the devotional said, “we would be unable to stand in the presence of such passion.” I also did another study once that said that we can’t even look at the sun and it’s billions of miles away – and God’s glory shines brighter than the sun. In heaven, there won’t be a need for night because God’s glory shines SO brightly. It’s moments like this, where I feel so small and God reminds me in the gentle whisper (1 Kings 19) that He loves me so much and everything I search for, He already has given me. Because I’m fulfilled in Christ.

I truly enjoyed this read. Such a very important and timely reminder showing us that we can not fault people who like us love imperfectly. It mostly stems from their own past and experiences of that they were shown. I’m challenged by this through heavens perspective to love them anyway! As it’s what God has continually done for me in my failures.

Def have believed this lie. After my divorce, I no longer believed God should be my go to for relationships. I did everything to find someone contrary to God. I didn’t think he cared about me in that. Now that I’ve walked in disobedience I now feel like God doesn’t love me for that. All lies. All rooted in feeling loved by God. Def a good read

Hi friends, if you have a moment, would you pray for my family? My 3 kiddos 2,5,7 have come down with Influenza A. I’m praying my husband and I don’t catch it. It’s just so scary to put them to bed with that horrible cough. There is a little boy fighting for his life at a hospital a town over, just was a normal healthy 6yo boy. Pray for him, it just breaks my heart!!! I completely trust in God….he has this all in his hands and he is so good but I could use the prayer. Thank you so much!

I love that this was put towards the end of the study! After spending a few days learning the “bigness” of God and how Holy, Omnipotent, Omnipresent, and Immutable he is, to now go and think about how he loves US. Wow. This Holy, Omnipotent, Omnipresent, Immutable God loves us. That is incredible. Thank you for another incredible devotional SRT!

This was a wonderful read. Churches shy away from speaking out against racism, which is blatantly against what God has told us about loving your neighbor. I hope this speaks to everyone to stand up to racism and let people know the hate in their hearts is not of God. Ministering to these types of people to bring them to truly know the awesomeness of God’s love is of absolute importance. I don’t understand why this is not spoken about in many churches.
