I’m way behind right now, and it worked out that I’m reading this passage in Matthew on Good Friday. I think that it’s no coincidence and that God for sure wanted me to read this today!

Every time I sin, I am nailing Jesus Christ, my Savior, back up on the cross. My heart trembles and hurts because of that. Lord Jesus, thank you for your sacrifice and forgiveness that I could never deserve.

I am struck by the emotional torment Jesus went through, in addition to the physical pain. As he was hurting, he was made fun of, mocked…I can’t imagine how lonely that was. Praise Jesus for his complete sacrifice for us.

Jesus makes no reply to the charges against him, though he is the most innocent person to walk the face of the earth. I can’t imagine the humility and trust in God it takes to not defend yourself against charges that are not true.
