Put away passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul: “1 So put away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander.” Lord Almighty help me in my sin!

Yesterday’s reading:
To God’s elect, exiles scattered throughout the provinces of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia,
3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you,
6. In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.
It just strikes me- what a different tone of voice we hear from Jeremiah to Peter. Both speaking to a chosen people exiled. Peter exhorting the people to do good and have hope- because of Jesus! I really feel the light breaking out of the darkness compared to the Jeremiah gloom- Thank you Jesus for being a total game changer! For being our HOPE!!-
Amen! Neat correlation! We all are exiles & strangers to some extent, all in need of the hope only Jesus can bring!

“9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;”. (1 Peter 2:9). Thank you Jesus for making us your special possession. We aren’t meant to live forever on this earth– our hearts are made for heaven, with You Lord. May we proclaim Your excellencies while we are living here.
