Wow! 3 new readers at once! Welcome ladies!! I stated in January/ i am LOVING how daily committing to this has only given me strength and peace and desire to keep knowing God’s word more! Some of the readers use Bibles with commentaries on the side to help understand passages. I find the comments here often give me deeper appreciation of the passages and even how they relate. I take time to read even if comments are years old, and i go back a few days to be sure i don’t miss super insight from others like yourself! I hope you will join us!!

Last year I read the songs of Jesus by Timothy Keller. It is a year of devotions in the Psalms. It has a bible verse then a short explanation and a daily prayer. Short, sweet and gets you in the habit of spending time with God everyday.

This is my first reading as well. I’m starting on a new journey from being away from God for the past few years to being interested on getting to know Him better through His words. What are your recommendations? I’m starting with the year plan but i’m afraid i won’t complete it because of how new this is to me. Do you recommend any smaller plan i can start? Or the year plan is perfect for my situation?

Me too Bethany. I’ve had the app downloaded for a long time but it just sat there. The chapters from Isaiah are some of my favorite.

    This was my first reading

We moved this summer and I fell close to a month behind… It’s important to me to do this so I made time little by little to catch up. I set my alarm to wake up before my kids and read on the app in bed so I don’t wake them up by moving to the porch (my preference). Some days I don’t get as much time to pray or digest as id like but I’m in the word daily and am loving the knowledge and comfort from knowing the full story!!

  7. Andrea says:

I always try to read it from my bible in the morning, but if I can’t, it’s nice to catch up reading in bits on the app during the day. Knowing I don’t always have to read it all at once can be helpful on crazy days.

Hey everyone! I’m trying to complete the bible in a year plan! I’m on day 3 but I usually only go to a month and I quit! What do you guys do to help you stick with the plan!?

Good for you, Sarah! Three days is a great start :) One little thing that helps me is to just pick it up on the correct day if I miss a couple days for whatever reason. If I try to catch up by going back through the days I missed, I end up getting even more behind because it’s a lot more reading time. I wish I could say I never missed a day but I do! It helps me to tell myself, “I’m going to do this every day…now what is my backup plan for the times I don’t meet this goal?” I have found that God graciously meets me in his Word whether I am perfectly consistent or not. It’s freeing, which makes me able to be more consistent. That’s just me! :)

Hi Sarah! Part of what helps me is the comments here..I want to know how others are processing the word, even the harder parts to read. This is my first time sticking with it and I haven’t missed a day yet. Part of it is because the more consistently it becomes a part of your day the more you start looking forward to it. Now, I know I will be doing this next year too..there is so much richness letting the stories of the Word build up on each other. I look forward to this time every morning!

You’re off to a great start… I like to listen to the Word as I follow along on the SRT app. Just play it on your Bible app (I use Bible Gateway) and away you go! Sometimes I forget about the comments and go back and read them later…sometimes I’m just behind but get back going whenever I can get some time. Once I’m there it is easy to do a day or two catch up if needed… Like now! :)
