    Wow. Paul could have and probably should have been angry. He was a prisoner for years for no reason yet he preaches LOVE he preaches SALVATION. He trusts fully in the lord. I pray I can have that kind of trust. To know that every situation – even horrible ones that Paul had to deal with – is part of His plan. He promises healing and love and grace! Hallelujah

  2. Jessica says:

    I love that God calls Abraham his friend. What an honor!!

    1. Haley says:

      I loved that part, too!

    I’ve been using the Guzik commentary over on studylight.org and it’s really helping me to understand all of these readings! Just a heads up :)

  4. Hesaved83 says:

    30 And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him, 31 Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.

    ~Reflection~ Paul was freer to preach the Gospel in chains than he was outside of jail. “…no man forbidding him.”

  5. Caitlyn Mae says:

    Isaiah 41:10, “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God…”

    This verse made me think of something Queen Elizabeth I once said to her people in time of turmoil. She said, “Fear not, we are of the nature of the Lion, and cannot descend to the destruction of mice and such small beasts.”

    If we truly are fighting on the side of the Lion of Judah, why are we so worried about the mice and small beasts? Loved this!

      Love it!

    I thought the verses referring to idols were interesting, especially if we look at modern day life and ask ourselves honestly what our own idols are. The reminder that God is first and He is the only one who can satisfy us was important. 22 “Tell us, you idols,
    what is going to happen.
    Tell us what the former things were,
    so that we may consider them
    and know their final outcome.
    Or declare to us the things to come,
    23 tell us what the future holds,
    so we may know that you are gods.
    Do something, whether good or bad,
    so that we will be dismayed and filled with fear.
    24 But you are less than nothing
    and your works are utterly worthless;
    whoever chooses you is detestable.

  7. Katrina P says:

    Every single one of us has a story. Every single one of us has gone through rough spots and has also celebrated happy times. Behind all of they is someone who helps us to be the author of our lives – someone who calms our worries and our fears and who helps us shine from the inside out leading us to do good in our lives…

    Isaiah 41:10 fear not, for I am with you;
    be not dismayed, for I am your God;
    I will strengthen you, I will help you,
    I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

    1. Betty says:

      Thank you for those thoughts..I sent them to my grandson who is having a hard day at school today.

  8. Laura says:

    18 I will open rivers on the barren heights,
    and springs in the middle of the plains.
    I will turn the desert into a pool of water
    and dry land into springs of water.
    I’m so encouraged that our Lord is Able to do the impossible! To bring life and hope to what is barren and lifeless!
    And I’m glad He won’t share His glory with another…in so many situations where I’ve done and said everything I know to do/say, things have not improved or changed. But I know that He working and when a breakthrough comes, He will get all the glory because I know ONLY He could’ve brought it about!
