Seems like Job is considering the celebration of birth as sin, what does everyone think of this?

I very much disagree. It seems to me that he is mourning and wish he was never born because of all the pain he is feeling and going through.

The passage of the day was all too real and specific to the day we all faced in Southern California. We lost loved ones. I pray for Kobe Bryant’s family and all the other families as they lost their moms, dads, sisters, wife, husbands. Ugh. Faith is being majorly tested.

I see a lot of contrast between Job and James in today’s reading. But the thing that sticks out to me the most is the fact that I’m today’s passages from Job we see him hurting and suffering and depressed, but his friend comes to him and says, “Look up! You tell everyone else to find the good in bad situations and now you need to take your own advice.” And in James we read not only that we are to count our trials as blessings, but also that our duty as Christians is to take care of those around us. To sit in the muck with them when they’re stuck in it. To be with them in that place. But to remind them to look up.
