4But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us,

  3. Kaley Bergeron says:

There is so much brutality in the chapters of kings we read today. I struggle with finding God in that. Anyone have any advice?

    1. Mary BethBenson says:

Totally. At times, it’s really hard for me, too. However, I think the brutality can be a way for us to actively visualize and understand sin—just as there is brutality in our world today. Because of sin, violence in all its forms—emotional, physical, sexual, relational, spiritual—exists. And, God never intended violence to be a part of our existence. We commit violence to one another everyday—in the thoughts, intentions, and motivations of our hearts. And, God still comes after us, just like He did the Israelites. He has compassion on us, even in the midst of our egregious sin. ❤️

  4. Sarah Johnson says:

I heard a sermon on this specific verse and now it has new meaning to me “consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God’s people and members of God’s household.” We are no longer separated from God in any way because of the work he did through Christ!

  5. E Hong says:

5even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— -ellie

  6. JoAnn Foley-DeFiore says:

“Instead, immense in mercy and with an incredible love, he embraced us. He took our sin-dead lives and made us alive in Christ. He did all this on his own, with no help from us! Then he picked us up and set us down in highest heaven in company with Jesus, our Messiah.”

  7. Mallory Lozoya says:

I’m reading the message version, and this chapter of Ephesians 2 hit me hard today. We used to be outsiders, and Jesus welcomed us in, uniting us with the Jews and breaking down the walls. I hope we can keep that same attitude today in the church.

  8. Sharon Ide says:

We who once were hopeless alienated strangers, have been shown the immeasurable riches of grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
