The blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the dead are raised up, the poor have good news preached to them. What compassion and mercy from our holy Savior. And He has also truly given sight, ability to walk, cleansing, life, and good news to us.

I love the stories of David’s faith in God as he “inquires” of God before he goes to battle with the Philistines. It’s truly an example of the faith we as Christians should have when we are faced with tough decisions.

Stark contrast to the consequences we read about a few chapters back that Saul faced for not inquiring of God. David’s faith in God lead to life and victory. Saul’s faith in himself led to death and defeat.

Luke 7:28 ‘I say to you, among those born of women there is no one greater than John; yet he who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.” Incredible to think about… Even a “nobody” in the KOG is gonna be amazingly great. The KOG – heaven – eternal life with God – forever – it’s gonna be incredible!! Thank you God for your saving grace for all who put their trust in You.

Martina, I’ve always understood that she didn’t feel that David was acting like a king, but that he was being a fool, and thought the people would think less of him.

29 As the ark of the covenant of the Lord was entering the City of David, Michal daughter of Saul watched from a window. And when she saw King David dancing and celebrating, she despised him in her heart.
Does anyone understand why?!-
I’m trying to figure it out too so I’m backtracking in the story. Ok, in 1 Samuel 18 Michal is given to David in marriage. It says Michal loved David but it seems like David was only interested in the challenge of paying the “price” of Philistine foreskins in order to win Michal and prove he was greater than Saul. Now at the end of chapter 25 it says Saul gave Michal in marriage to another man. Maybe because David was away all the time? Maybe because David was Saul’s enemy? I don’t know. Then in 2 Samuel 3 I guess David remembers Michal and uses her to make a deal with someone else–and takes her away from a husband that loved her very much. I would think the reason she hates watching David dance and worship in chapter 6 and then in our reading today is because he hurt her so much.
If I get anything from this story it’s that it’s hard to watch a person you haven’t forgiven worship God. The hypocrisy I see in David angers me but it’s the same hypocrisy in me when I go to church and worship without making things right with my husband, sister, friend, parent etc. But God’s grace makes it possible for me to come before Him in worship even when I am drenched in sin. Praise God for showing us our sin and giving us the grace to choose Him!!-
perfect words! I was thinking the same things as I read today! can you imagine all the mixed up feelings Michal must have had?!? at one time she did love David but like you said her Father hated him and maybe the death of her Father planted a seed of hatred towards David and God. and after David for a brief time left, she remarried – and that guy LOVED her! having to leave the man you love to be with the guy who took your dad’s place as king – no wonder she was upset! not to mention David had some new wives now too and I’m sure that didn’t help matters.
