I’m always struck by how God works in His people. The passage tells us that the Lord relented, and then David repented, sought the Lord, built the altar, made the sacrifices, and this is how the Lord’s relenting was fulfilled.

“let the Lord my king take whatever he wishes and offer it up”. how often do we pray this prayer? how often do we expose EVERYTHING to God? how often do we ask Gods wisdom to take whatever he may need or want. or to take whatever gets in the way? this isn’t a quick prayer, its a regular, pray and wait prayer. start scheduling time to just be exposed.

I don’t understand why Jesus didn’t want the demon spirits to tell people he was Christ? Can anyone help me with this…

Hey Morgan, I wondered this too for so long, and then I went to Bible school! I remember my one prof said that it was probably for two reasons: One, demons are an unreliable source. Jesus wouldn’t want His ministry to be founded on the revelation of demons, right? The demon source probably spoke with malicious intent against the timing of Jesus’s ministry, which leads to my second point… Two, Jesus kept mentioning throughout His ministry that “His time has not yet come” aka for “its not time for my full exultation to come just quite yet”. Remember when Jesus told those He healed not to tell others what He did (except to testify to the priests), when Jesus’ brothers wanted Him to be bolder, or the crowds wanted to make Him King by force? He was maintaining control of the right times when to reveal the full truth, secretly and boldly, at the appointed time. The only time Jesus said His time was about to come was when He was going to be betrayed and about to be sent to the cross.

24:24 “I will not offer burnt offerings to the Lord my God that cost me nothing.” Stood out to me too. David wasn’t willing to take the easy way out. He wanted to worship God in a way that required some pain/self denial on his part. He wanted it to hurt.
