God will provide if we just let go of things like finances and giving! It seems so simple but it feels so hard to do

Is it just me, or was anyone else surprised that David was actually willingly a part of the Philistine army for some time? I never remember reading/or learning about that when I was younger. It’s amazing how the story of David and Saul is waved together.
I also love how God has control of the story because David doesn’t end up going against Israel with the Philistine army in the end…because the King of Gath finds favour in him, but the other rulers remember that he is an Israelite and are afraid he (David) might turn on them.
In some ways, I don’t understand the point of this passage…anyone able to shed some light on it?-
I think the point of this passage is to show that even our heroes in the Bible, fall short of Gods glory. I think that this story is a warning in a way to us, in that, 1 Samuel 27:1, we see that David convinces himself to leave, as he believes in his heart that he will perish due to Saul. But this was all the works of his own fear, he did not bring this fear to Lord for guidance rather he took it into his own hands and therefore strayed pretty far from God.
And I don’t know about you but I am guilty of this every day! A fear pops into my head and before K even think about bringing it to the Lord I act on it. This is just the naive nature of the human heart I think. But this passage is a reminder that ultimately we might take things into our own hands, but, God remains in control.
And in this passage we see God remaining control at the end of chapter 29, where David is not allowed to fight the Israelites.
Not sure if that made sense! But that’s just how I see this:)
