13No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

Love the OT references in 1 Cor. 10:6-11. “These things (Golden Calf, marriage to the Moabites, unbelief of the spies, bronze serpent) took place as examples for us, that we might not desire evil as they did… now these things happened to them as an example, but they were written down for our instruction.” As we often struggle with reading parts of the OT, let us remember that it is recorded for a reason. Let us learn to turn away from evil, from idols, etc. and turn to the One who truly offers life abundantly.

I also thought this NT reading and those examples were well put to remind us of the importance of reading the OT.

There is so much to glean from the OT readings.

I’m not seeking my own good but the good of many!! So that they may be saved. There’s the awesome purpose of life.

The warnings against idolatry are so much more vivid and meaningful after reading Judges
