Why did Jesus ask His Father why he had abandoned him? I don’t understand

Because at the point… God turned his face against Jesus because he saw all of our sins.. sin is detestable to God.. so therefore he was taking the punishment of our sin. God turns away from sin.
Jesus is dying alone… he I am sure didn’t want this..

God did forsake Jesus on the cross because he, in that moment, assumed all of our sins and bore our guilt AND our punishment. However, Jesus is also fully God and went to the cross willingly. So, there is some level of mystery here. Because in his humanity, he was abandoned by the Father, but in his divinity he was never separated from the Father.

Reading of our Lord’s crucifixion I find the incredible patience and humility of Christ. The insults and blasphemies called against him are recorded in detail perhaps because they are so unjust. Yet our Lord continued on in the will of His father for the joy set before him of glory in the bride He would receive.

We can be strong and courageous because of what He did on the cross. Thank you Jesus

Seeing the repeated reminders & pleas over the last few days (“Be strong & courageous”, “I believe, help my unbelief!”,”The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak “) is so comforting in its own way. The struggles I feel are not unique, but have been faced & overcome by humans before. I can overcome because of my mighty God. ❤️

I’m encouraged by God’s use of Rahab, a prostitute, in these verses. Such a great reminder of how we are all sinners, but that God uses us for His glory and loves us all the same!
