Day 42

Weekly Truth

1 Samuel 16:7

BY She Reads Truth

Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the gospel with us wherever we go.

This week we’ll memorize 1 Samuel 16:7, a verse from David’s story on day 37 about what God sees and values.

“Humans do not see what the LORD sees, for humans see what is visible, but the LORD sees the heart.”
–1 Samuel 16:7

I sometimes wonder what’s truly in my heart that God sees. I know how I hope my heart is, and I pray for God to continue to fill it up with Him!

I am so thankful that the Lord sees my heart – good and bad and that I can trust Him with it. My prayer is that I will be willing to take the time to look deeper especially with my students. We go back to school in two weeks and this verse will be one I take with me as I greet them at the door. I pray that I will see them as He sees them and will remember that they have been created in His image.
Lord, today, examine my heart. Clean it up. Help me to be joyful on this journey. May my life be so compelling that others want to know the source of my water.

I’m so grateful that our God sees beyond the material and past our facades to see us as we truly are. It is humbling and wonderful to be fully known. For it is only when we are known completely that we can be loved completely.

Tauren Wells’ song “Known” says it best.
