Day 22

The Fourth Sunday of Advent

John 1:14

BY She Reads Truth

O Emmanuel, our king and our lawgiver,
the hope of the nations and their Saviour:
Come and save us, O Lord our God.

The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. We observed his glory, the glory as the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
—John 1:14

I love that Jesus is full of grace AND truth. On my best day, I have never managed the balance and always find myself swinging from one to the other. Our world cries out for both. I am so thankful for a savior who is all that I am not, who dwells with those he loves, and who fills every need.

I ask for prayers today for our friend Paul who is serving in Afghanistan right now. This is his 6th tour of duty, but it is always hard, especially for his mother and father.

Love how The Message version interprets this verse:

“The word became flesh and blood and moved into the neighborhood.”

My sweet mom passed away 3 days ago and the only thing I know for sure is that she is celebrating Christmas with Jesus this year! God made a way for us to live with Him despite our sin. Jesus came into this world and saved every single one of us so that we could celebrate with Him.

Sometimes I become almost overwhelmed with sadness st out world and us as a people. But when I read the bible and God’s promises i am reminded this is why he came to us. He is with us right now and the beauty of what it will be like when he finally returns fills me up with hope. Thank you Jesus for your life and our salvation. Help me to keep my eyes focused only on you and your promises

    1. Jenny Walls says:

I feel the same way, Anne. Sometimes I feel there is little faith in God amongst this world, and so much sadness and pain…but then I have to tell myself, there is also so much love and goodness and in the end that’s all it will be. And those who suffer here on Earth have a great reward awaiting them in Heaven.

  8. Churchmouse says:

These words today are comfort and joy. The King came and He is coming again. Blessed be the name of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
