Day 21

Grace Day

Isaiah 61:1-3

BY She Reads Truth

Take this day as an opportunity to catch up on your reading, pray, and rest in the presence of the Lord.

1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is on me,
because the LORD has anointed me
to bring good news to the poor.
He has sent me to heal[a] the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives
and freedom to the prisoners;
2 to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor,
and the day of our God’s vengeance;
to comfort all who mourn,
3 to provide for those who mourn in Zion;
to give them a crown of beauty instead of ashes,
festive oil instead of mourning,
and splendid clothes instead of despair.[b]
And they will be called righteous trees,
planted by the LORD
to glorify him.

    “He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted” (Isaiah 61:1). God cares about our griefs and our losses. He promises joy to those who mourn and fullness to those who are empty. My grief is not hidden from Him nor is it inconsequential. He cares. He loves me. He promises me that He has a plan. And that His plan is good – not designed to hurt me or cause me pain. It may not be easy. But He has not forgotten me.
