Day 14

Weekly Truth

from the Give Thanks reading plan

Psalm 31:7-8a

BY She Reads Truth

Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the gospel with us wherever we go.

This week’s verse is a reminder that we can give thanks in everything because God sees and knows our troubles.

I will rejoice and be glad in your faithful love
because you have seen my affliction.
You know the troubles of my soul
and have not handed me over to the enemy.
Psalm 31:7-8a

Oh, the overwhelming love of God! I cannot begin to comprehend it but, oh, how very thankful I am for it! His love is steadfast – faithful. It is rooted in HIS character – not dependent on MY behavior. He saw me in distress – affliction, misery – hopeless and without relief. My misery was of my own making – the just result of my sin. And yet, in His love, He refused to turn me over to the enemy of my soul. He rescued me – delivered me from sin and death. Gave me hope. Filled me with joy and peace. He gave me a new life. He is my God. My Father.
