Day 21

Weekly Truth

from the The Sermon on the Mount reading plan

Matthew 6:13

BY She Reads Truth

Memorizing Scripture is one of the best ways to carry God-breathed truth, instruction, and reproof wherever we go.

As we read through the Sermon on the Mount, we are memorizing the Lord’s Prayer together. The third part of the prayer asks God to guide us away from temptation and evil, so that we might walk toward His grace and love.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
—Matthew 6:13a

Write this passage down and post it on your mirror or at your desk, in your car or on the fridge—anywhere you’ll see it often. Save the image below as your phone’s lock screen so you can read these words of truth throughout the day.

We want to be a community that is intentional about Scripture memorization. Will you join us?

Deliver us from evil. May I understand deeper how to pray for this and walk in the light.

We have a propensity to ‘do evil’ because of our sinful nature. We would be wise to pray daily that we not dally with that which we know could lead us to sin, to fall away, to betray. We often know the where, the what and the who that could lead us on a path that leads, eventually, only to our destruction.
    So… Today…
Let us pray that we not linger there with that or with them.
Let us not toy with sin
We are not as strong as we think our self control is.
    We have this propensity.
    Let us be on guard.
Let us pray we turn and walk away.
    From darkness to Light.
Because that is always our choice.
