  1. Ashley says:

The OT sacrifices gave a foundation of understanding for what Jesus would do for us on the cross. They couldn’t save us, but they did serve to draw Israel back to God as they awaited the Messiah. How much more incredible grace seems in contrast to repeated works!

  2. karen says:

“28 so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.” What a glorious day this will be! Sometimes I feel it is near with our world in such scary, disarray. Be prayerful my sisters, at all times!

  3. Katrina says:

Through these verses today I’m reminded that the sacrifices of the old days were no matter until Jesus came to save us with his own life… It’s the only life that matters!

14 How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!

    1. Pam B says:

I don’t think I would say the sacrifices of the Old Testament, old covenant didn’t matter since they pointed to Christ. I would say that they were maybe incomplete until Christ came. They mattered because even though they couldn’t completely wash away sin like Christ, they did atone for sin which God required. Christ came as the ultimate sacrifice making the animal sacrifices no longer necessary; but they did matter because as a Holy God He required atonement for sin and before Christ those sacrifices were what was needed.

      1. Justine Fern says:

        beautifully put Pam!

Katrina, I appreciate your thoughtful words shared with us each day. I get what you are saying. That once Jesus came and sacrificed all for us the sacrifices of the old covenant were no longer relevant in the NT times under the new covenant. If they were we would still be doing them! (Yuck) Thank you for sharing each day.
