I love the story told in these chapters of 1 Samuel. Just one question: in chapter 17:55-58, does King Saul not recognize David as the musician who previously played the harp for him? Before the reading this week, I didn’t realize that David had already spent time in the king’s presence before killing Goliath.

I noticed this as well. I think Saul was only wondering what lineage David was from, even though he had been Saul’s harp player he probably wasn’t allowed to speak to Saul directly since he was king so yes he probably did recognize him but only wondered about David personally after he killed Goliath. Just speculation.

Love, Love the story of David and the reminder throughout the Bible of God’s power and provisions and how he consistently uses the weak, unsuspecting, young, old, poor, or undeserving to accomplish His Agenda! His plan always prevails!

David’s courage and faith in God is so inspiring to me! This is my first time truly examining this passage, though I’ve heard the story all my life, and I was bookmarking all over the place. :)

Encouraged by David’s faith in God! He kept God in everything he did and gave all the glory to him! May I keep God in all of my plans!
