Hymns of Hope: Day 14

Weekly Truth

by

Today's Text: Jeremiah 31:12

Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the gospel with us wherever we go.

This week’s passage is the key verse for this reading plan—a reminder of the eternal joy that is ours in Christ.

They will come and shout for joy on the heights of Zion;
they will be radiant with joy
because of the LORD’s goodness.
-Jeremiah 31:12

  • Sisters in Christ once again I ask for prayer I am still having problems with strange, freakish dreams and almost nightmares. Today I ended up on the floor next to my bed, no I was not hurt, but my bed was pushed away from the wall partially and things that are on the floor had been scattered all over. I called the crisis for my mental health provider and I am waiting for them to get back. I know now it wasn’t how fast I was decreasing one of my medications. It may be something to do with one of my new medicines. Please pray that the doctors can figure this out and very soon so I can get a good eight hours sleep without interruption. Peace be with all my sisters.

Would listening to Scripture as you drive help? Also listening to audio Bible while preparing meals or doing housework? Personal experience has taught me that God blesses the “reading” of his Word even if someone else is reading it to you.

    • Dorothy

Amen it doesn’t matter who reads it, it matters who listens and tries to understand it.

Thank you Carol and Dorothy, I do love this, I do this especially during the school year but often forget to listen intentionally. If you have a specific Audio plan please let me know. I listened to Priscilla Shirer’s book “Fervent” and it was very life changing.

I too have three littles. That 5am time is the only quiet intentional time with the lover of my soul. Some days I choose to sleep but he always meets me and fuels me when I choose to rise the hour before my kiddos (5,3,3). Early to
Bed early to rise. I try to be in bed by 930/10.

    • Katie Morrison

Thank you so very much for your encouragement! I intend to have the same type of schedule. This helps so much!

Being a teacher, mother of three and a Pastor’s wife I need more time with Jesus. It’s so very difficult to find that quiet time with Him. Today I will go to bed early and wake up early so that I can spend time with my Father, I would like to start this habit. I would love encouragement and insight on what has worked for many of you that find yourself in a similar position.

Good morning Katie! When my kids were younger I began getting up an hour early to spend time with the Father. It was so hard at first because I was just so tired from work, being mom, etc. Then ai was in a women’s bible study and a friend of mine made the comment “After all He has sacrificed for me, can’t I sacrifice an hour of sleep for Him?” So convicting! So I began again! And tho it was really hard, it was so worth it! And I so needed that time! That time in prayer strengthened me and refueled me each day! I came to cherish it – and still do. Most of my babies are grown now but I still get up and have that time. I have my prayer time then I usually go for a quick 10-15 minute jog to get my body started for the day – taking care of the temple – inside and out. Lol I know that what works for me won’t work for everyone- but the Father knows what will work best. He tells us to number our days aright and He will give us a heart of wisdom. I will be in prayer that He leads you to that time with Him and that He will bless and magnify your efforts in all things!

Thank you so much, I feel the same way, I just crave that quiet time with Him. I am a runner and am planning to wake at 5am and spend time with Him and then run to help get my mind cleared for the day. Thank you again for sharing your experience, sister. It is so encouraging!

Katie I spend time with the Lord in the car listen to the Christian radio station. I feel many of the songs I hear draw me closer. When I am alone in the car I find I can pay close attention to the words. Some of the words are like prayer, others are praise and others remind me that the Lord is there no matter what. As I drive I sometimes sing if I know the song and then the drivers around me give me strange looks. Just last night I pulled into a drive through at Burger King and was waiting for my food and the person at the window gave me a strange look because I was singing to the music — his window was closed and so was mine so he couldn’t hear me he could just see my lips moving — I think he thought I was cussing him out or something. I guarantee you will feel better, you will have your time with the Lord — maybe not all at once — and you have wondering what is wrong with you — if they ask tell them you are singing to the Lord and they aught to try it some time. ; ) God Bless

Question for the day: does my face radiate the joy that comes from knowing the Lord is good? Or is my face reflecting my circumstances, my concerns, my worries, my fears? Even in the midst of difficulty, God is still good. The hard times are permitted by Him for His purpose. He will walk through it with me. I will see my trust increase and my faith deepen. I know this to be true and this brings joy. It is an anchor in the present struggle.
