Hymns of Hope: Day 6

Grace Day

by

Today's Text: 1 John 3:18-20

Use today to pray, rest, and reflect on this week’s reading, giving thanks for the grace that is ours in Christ.

Little children, let us not love in word or speech, but in action and in truth. This is how we will know that we belong to the truth and will reassure our hearts before him whenever our hearts condemn us; for God is greater than our hearts, and he knows all things.
-1 John 3:18-20

This came at the right moment in time.

  • I needed this today, thank you

  • Amanda Smith

So thankful for this study. Bless you ladies at SRT for pouring into women like myself.

  • Samantha Schmitt

I so needed this today! I didn’t become a believer until I was 25 and lately I’ve been having a hard time dealing with things in my past and just feeling so unworthy of anything! This was just the reminder I needed today. I already know that Jesus has taken my sins and made me new, but I still struggle with letting my own heart condemn myself.

    • Lynn Johnson

Samantha – don’t believe the lies of the enemy. You are His beloved…you are His Daughter…you are a Child of God! I am praying for you right now to find joy today as you are not defined by your past. Thanks for your radical transparency.

  • Jessie Chatigny

Thank you for this study! I was just about to make a play list of versions of these hymns (some I’ve never heard and want to learn) but thought I’d ask if you had done that already, SRT? Thanks

Hi Jessie, yes we did create a Spotify playlist to go along with this plan. You can find the link in our Instagram bio or you can find it directly on Spotify by searching, “Hymns of Hope by She Reads Truth.” Hope that helps! -Margot, The SRT Team

I can be so critical of myself. I know my failings all too well. How encouraging and reassuring these verses are! When the negative self talk begins, I need only remember that I am a child of God and I “belong to the truth”. The truth about me is defined by He Who is the Truth. The challenge is for my actions to reflect Whose I am. Daily I run to my Abba’a arms. He welcomes me. He does not condemn me. He whispers to my heart “My child, just follow Me.” Today, and every day, may that be by focus and my goal.

Dear Churchmouse, I completely agree; it is so easy to become critical of ourselves and listen to all the negativity. I continually have to remind myself that that isn’t what God sees when He looks at me or what He thinks about me. I am usually self-condemning myself while He is continually loving me. “Be still, and know that I am God….” Psalm 46:10 “But I have stilled and quieted my soul….” Psalm 131:2. Love in Christ Jesus to all my sisters in Christ.

      • Mari

Jennifer, so well put! I’m my words enemy! I saw my CR accountability partner this morning and she always points me to Jesus reminding WHO I am in Christ.

    • Sarah

      Beautifully said!

    • Elaine Keller

      Amen!

    • PamC

Thank you for once again finding the words that express my heart when I cannot.
