1 & 2 Timothy and Titus: Day 6

Grace Day

by

Today's Text: 2 Peter 3:14-15

Use this day to pray, rest, and reflect on this week’s reading, giving thanks for the grace that is ours in Christ.

Therefore, dear friends, while you wait for these things, make every effort to be found without spot or blemish in his sight, at peace. Also, regard the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as our dear brother Paul has written to you according to the wisdom given to him.

Dear Ann, I would just like to say, that I am so very sorry for your terrible loss and that I am actually interested in how it feels, because it is a scenario that losing my mother has made all too aware of the brevity of life how any one can be taken from us without warning. I cannot imagine for one moment what you are going through, and my own experience of grief is a totally different animal to the one you are experiencing. I guess as humans, we long to comfort one another, and all I can say is that maybe those people who have shared their stories of loss are trying in some way to connect to you, that they sense you are out there all alone and in their own, albeit limited way, they are trying to reach you. Sadly, no one can, because, as you say, this is your Journey. Your own unique private grief. No-one knows how it feels to be you. All we can share is part of the common that makes us human beings. I don”t know you, but I feel your grief. It is real. Your world has been rocked. I just sit and appreciate that with you for a moment. And we are all works in progress. We all just do the best we can. Each day. With what life dishes out to us and given our level of growth. That”s all we can do. Xxxxx

Patience and grace. Two characteristics of Jesus I need to emulate more. Thank you God for your patience with me!

Oh to be at peace and patient…I hold on to the persistent hope that my unbelieving loved ones yet have time…

  • I have to read this backwards… I absolutely MUST cling to the Lord’s patience for my salvation. THAT is my peace… because MY efforts to be found without spot or blemish in His sight result(ed) in failure… But thanks be to God, HE is my salvation. HE has done what I could not… conquered sin and death and by Jesus Christ My Lord, I am more than a conqueror. ❤️❤️❤️

Jessica, this also resonates with me, my frustration at situations overwhelms me at times. Reminds me to be more like Him and focus on what is important. To be more like our Savior.

It’s great to know that God is so patient with us allowing us to get it right. It is a reminder for me when I’m becoming impatient with others. If God can be so patient with me ALL of the time why can’t I do the same for others?

I’m with you Jessica! I’m impatient with my family the most. I hate that I don’t show them the grace God shows me! Good reminder to work on it!

Jessica, that is such a good reminder and a great question I can ask myself when I am feeling impatient towards others. I get impatient towards my family members and friends a lot but knowing that God is so patient with me all the time encourages me to strive to do the same to others as well. Thank you!
