1 & 2 Thessalonians: Day 14

Weekly Truth

Today's Text: 2 Thessalonians 3:5

Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the good news of the gospel of Jesus with us wherever we go.

This week we will memorize the key verse for 2 Thessalonians.

May the Lord direct your hearts to God’s love and Christ’s endurance.
—2 Thessalonians 3:5

I DESPERATELY need Christ’s endurance to continue. I’m completely exhausted. We are going through this book at church, too, and I was so encouraged yesterday after being reminded that living, teaching, LOVING, for the sake of the Gospel is worth it. I cried the whole service long, but remembering WHO I work for was so good! More of God’s love and Christ’s endurance. FILL MY CUP PLEASE!!! ☺️

  • “Direct our hearts to the….. steadfastness of Christ.” To fix my eyes on His steadfastness… that was really a new thought for me. Not hope. Not love. Not joy. No, not the feely good stuff, steadfastness, immovable, unchangeable. That takes time. That takes waiting. That takes trusting. Oh yeah, trusting.
Fix my eyes, Lord, on you. Bring me always back to trusting you.

  • Hey all, can you please pray for me? I haven’t been able to find a church to go to regularly here at college, and I’ve been going to bed late on Saturdays so that doesn’t help…just want to find a church that I can connect with. I’ve visited a lot of different ones, but I’m not sure which one I like best…I feel bad for not going to church some days…hopefully will find one soon. Love you all!

Sarah, I’m a praying God will lead you to the church He wants you at. Until then keep searching, fellowship with other believers is necessary for us to grow in our relationship with Christ! Don’t give up on finding a church home.

Also forgot to mention I go to a Christian university, so through our campus community/youth groups, I have community (small groups) here, so that has definitely been great. But still looking into churches to go to on Sunday :)

May the Lord himself direct our hearts to the Love of God.
Wow. Sometimes we can’t even get our hearts to continue in the same path. We’re told countless of times to follow our hearts, when really that can be so misleading- so instead, may someone like the Lord- who loves us, point us in the right direction, to God’s love and Christs’ steadfastness.
And in that direction, may our hearts change and long to reciprocate and endless, overwhelming, never ending love and a heart who is completely and utterly, totally fixed upon Jesus. Unshaken, unwavering, sure, dependable, reliable, and constant all on our own.
May leading us to love and steadfastness literally pave the way for us, so that we can follow and pursue that love and steadfastness on our own, after being shown the way.
This is what I pray for: that I may be so incredibly in love with Jesus, that things outside of the path running towards his heart may be shiny or flashy or even tempting, but that Christ’s love and faithfulness surpasses it, and I can just see it being waved, but it doesn’t change my mind about who I’m running to , who I’m chasing after, and who I’m choosing to love- Jesus!

We all search for and want to be loved. This verse is asking that our Lord direct us to God’s love because His love is true and unconditional. God knows how we yearn to be fully loved and He provides that love for us.
This world is harsh and difficult. Christ’s life, here on earth, was much more difficult than our current situations and He endured it all.
What lovely reminders! Seek God’s love and Christ’s endurance!

I can love because God first loved and I can endure because Christ endured. He lives in me and empowers me. I can do all things. I can love well for and through the long haul.

Wow. God’s got my number. After coming from the if:gathering yesterday where we talked about perseverance in Paul’s words to Timothy, then to get it here in Paul’s words to the Thessalonians.
Lord, please give me strength to persevere so that others see Jesus again in me no matter the circumstance.
    Have a blessed Sunday Sisters!

I too went to see IF:Gathering & thought how timely this verse was today. It’s the Lord directing our hearts to Him for certain. I’m so grateful.

  • This verse is my prayer today for my family
