1 & 2 Thessalonians: Day 13

Grace Day

Today's Text: 1 Peter 5:8-9

Use this day to pray, rest, and reflect on this week’s reading, giving thanks for the grace that is ours in Christ.

Be sober-minded, be alert. Your adversary the devil is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for anyone he can devour. Resist him, firm in the faith, knowing that the same kind of sufferings are being experienced by your fellow believers throughout the world.
—1 Peter 5:8-9

❤️ stand firm, resist the enemy, be alert! Prepare to influence and impact the Kingdom!

  • Thank you so much for this scripture! I have been so worried about an upcoming test result…allowing the enemy to torment me constantly with what-ifs. This scripture reminds me to remain focused on God…through prayer. This is the same trick the enemy has used against me in the past…I am grateful for God’s grace, peace and discernment. I will remain prayerful until I hear from God and see His will manifested in my life!

Hi K.B. thank you for sharing. Praying for peace during this waiting season for you. We’re grateful that you’re a part of our SRT community! -Margot, The SRT Team

  • I know the enemy tempts me into me exhaustion (staying up late, trying to accomplish too much) bc I am much weaker & often sin – w words, lack of patience w family etc. I pray that we continue to identify how the enemy preps up for his attacks. Let us not give in to his lies!

Thank you Sandy for the reminder to pray for those who are being attacked daily, those in bondage, and those whose faith is tested. It’s easy to pray for our family and friends but we should also be praying for all people. So thank you for your reminder of what we are called to do as well as our connection through Christ to each other…have a blessed day ladies!

Yes, Sandy. I was thinking about the same thing.
I’ve been on this new journey of motherhood and have found so much encouragement in joining MOPS and other mom groups. There is so much joy in my new journey, but it can easily be taken away with discouragement and lies that DO NOT come from the Lord. Knowing I am not the only women in the world who is struggling in my new found position in life has been such an encouragement. My prayers have changed to not just pray for myself in an issue, but also praying for other moms around the world who are working it through as well.
    We are not alone together.

Yes, Sandy! I just finished a book about Christian persecution and the underground church that needs our prayers. The book is called Tortured for Christ and was very eye-opening for me.

Love this, Sandy. Thanks for sharing!

Reciting the Word of God outloud makes me a lion tamer. It silences the devil’s roar. He slinks away to try another day. Oh but I’ll be armed and ready…

How do lions prowl and hunt? Lions stalk and do not attack until they are close. They observe and when the prey’s back is turned the lion will charge. Lions will go after the young, weak and helpless. Spiritually speaking we need to be sober-minded and alert. We need to be aware of situations that make us vulnerable and easy prey for the devil. The devil stalks us, watches and waits. It would be excellent if the devil announced the when, where, and why of the attack. We have something much better than an announcement. We have the Holy Spirit urging and speaking to us. We have God’s Word which tells us precisely what to expect, how to live and be prepared. We have the perfect sacrifice of Jesus Christ that covers us and makes us His. Praise God!

Yes. Very powerful observation on lion’s maneuvers for us to remember and be alert on devil’s settings… Thank you!

  • Today’s Scripture reminded me of a verse I came across during the She Reads Truth study on Isaiah last year:

“If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all.”
    – Isaiah 7:9

Let us stand firm in Christ our Lord today. “On Christ the solid rock I stand. All other ground is sinking sand.”
