A Prayer for the Third Sunday of Advent

Stir up your power, O Lord, and with great might come among us; and, because we are sorely hindered by our sins, let your bountiful grace and mercy speedily help and deliver us; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit, be honor and glory, now and forever. Amen.

Thank you, Renae. I have made a poster of this. Jesus, the One who knows.

  • PronetoWander

“Sorely hindered by our sins!” What a true statement for myself!

  • I have literally never read anything from Zephaniah. I read the preceding chapters and wow, total destruction. It really makes this verse about grace and mercy stand out even more when it is contrasted against all the anguish being foretold about. The best part, is that it’s now and FOREVER.

  • Rebecca Leek

This is indeed what Christmas is all about. My first Christmas where I truly see and understand this. This is my best Christmas ever!

  • Thankful for His grace and love this Sunday. ♡

God’s greatest work….coming among us as one of us to show us the path to God.

  • Jennifer Anapol

God is with us!! That is what Christmas is about!!

  • Kelsey Bender

I really needed to be reminded that He will quiet me with his love. Trust in God and know that He is for us. That is all I need. ❤️

  • Beautifully said Churchmouse, and beautifully worshipped. All glory and praise to the warrior King, who saves, because He loves us..x

  • Mina Mamoe

Wow the Grace is just pouring out

  • Martha Hix

I am thankful, Jesus, for your life, love, and mercy!

  • Whitney Arbogast

This verse shows that Jesus loves us more than anything.. thriving to make this Christmas all about him and all His Glory! For He is King!

  • Crystal Mendez

What a beautiful reminder to trust the Lord is watching over and taking care of us. ❤️

  • Tracy Sims

Beautiful! My mind goes to the song. Oh, how he loves us! Imagine him singing to us!

    • Bailey

Yes! I love that song as well. Gives me goosebumps every time I hear the line “I don’t have time to maintain these regrets when I think about the way He loves us.” Amen!

  • Please pray for my family. My husband’s grandfather is in the hospital recovery from heart surgery. He has spent longer in there than expected. His heart has stopped twice but the shocked him & got it beating again. His heart is very weak. Also his kidneys are only operating at 16%. In the meantime my husband’s grandmother (both grandparents are his mom’s parents) she broke her hips back around Thanksgiving. She is at home being care for by caregivers but she has Alzheimer’s & is getting worse. She is becoming more violent & it takes a lot longer to calm her down. Please pray that my mother in law finds the strength to get through this hard time. She suffers with depression really bad since my father in law passed away 2 years ago. Thank you & God Bless.

  • I am reminded today that no matter what this world is doing or brings to me, I am not alone. I am held in the palm of God’s hand. The picture of a weeping child sitting in the loving arms of a parent comes to mind. I am sitting in my Father’s lap, His arms wrapped around me, my head on His chest, and he is quietly singing in my ear offering that peace and comfort. Even though, I am not worthy. Even though, I created my chaos. Even though, I am stubborn and did not listen to Him. He still holds and comforts me. He still fights my battles. He still paid the price for my transgressions. Praise God. Thank you Father.

  • Blessings to you all this Advent Sunday. Lord, may I rest in your everlasting arms today, knowing that You are able…. our Mighty Warrior, our Defense and our Shield.

  • Churchmouse

Oh to just sit in His presence, to quietly sit and feel His love. Oh to hear Him tenderly singing, right next to me! With a kind and gentle smile on His lips. A warrior King actually rejoicing over me (me!) with gladness. That… is peace for me.
