James: Day 7

Weekly Truth

by

Today's Text: James 1:2-3

Memorizing Scripture is one of the best ways to carry God-breathed truth, instruction, and reproof wherever we go.

As we study James, we will memorize the book’s key verses together, James 1:2-4. This week, we’ll begin with the first part of the passage, which teaches us the paradoxical truth of rejoicing in suffering.

Consider it a great joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you experience various trials,
because you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance.
- James 1:2-3

Write this passage down and post it on your mirror or at your desk, in your car or on the fridge—anywhere you’ll see it often. Save the image below as your phone’s lock screen so you can read these words of truth throughout the day.

We want to be a community that is intentional about Scripture memorization. Will you join us?

This post comes at a time when I need it. I started this study a few weeks ago and by all means I should have been past this post, but instead I do it today when I really need this insight and help! Thank you for being a community that brings light and wisdom to me and so many others!!

Okay this response was suppose to be on the next post for “Wisdom from Above” hot back on my browser and didn’t realize.

  • This has been my life verse for 8 years. My father wrote it down on a piece of paper for me during a very tough time in my life and told me to meditate on the scripture every morning and know I would come out the other side of my struggles, stronger & wiser. Since that day, this verse has gotten me through every difficult situation I’ve faced.

  • thankful for Christian company life and online. Have a blessed week and may we all be close to God

  • One of my favorite contemporary ways to memorize scripture is through the company Armed With Truth. They sell temporary tattoos for your arm that help you memorize scripture! I bought a pack with this verse a few months ago.

Sarah, thank you for the info about the temporary tattoos! I have real tattoos similar to this on my arms already, so I can’t wait to play with these!

This verse is sobering in light of the tragic terrorist attack in Manchester. Maintaining hope after something like that is indeed a trial in itself. When our faith is tested, we find out its true mettle. When our faith is tried in the fiery furnace, we find out if we will endure or we will succumb. When our faith is tested, we find out if we even have joy – joy that comes only from faith and trust in the Word of God. Let us linger long in our Bibles every day so that we imbed the joy of Truth deep within us. Then we can stand the testing that is sure to come.
