John: Day 28

Weekly Truth

Today's Text: John 1:5

Memorizing Scripture is one of the best ways to carry God-breathed truth, instruction, and reproof wherever we go.

Over the four weeks of this study, we have been memorizing the first five verses in John’s Gospel, pivotal words on the person and calling of Christ. This week we will memorize the final verse, a verse of great hope!

That light shines in the darkness,
yet the darkness did not overcome it.
—John 1:5

Write this verse down and post it on your mirror or at your desk, in your car or on the fridge—anywhere you’ll see it often. Save the image below as your phone’s lock screen so you can read these words of truth throughout the day.

We want to be a community that is intentional about Scripture memorization. Will you join us? 4-John2017-4

I also thank God for this wonderful community of SRT women that I have found and have become a part of! Without you ladies, I don’t think that I would have gotten this far into my daily scripture reading plan! Thank you guys for always just being there for one another and showing how loving Jesus is!

This verse is perfect. I have been overwhelmed with anxiety of the future and the present. I thank God for She Reads Truth. It draws me back to Him and helps me keep my eyes on Him. Thank you.

  • This is a powerful verse that I need to remind myself that He is always there for us and will not let us overcome it on our own. I was having a rough week at work and I continously pray about it. I let go, let God and everything turn out better.

  • I had a weekend that proved to make me super tired than well rested. i think the devil is trying to make me feel like the light can be overshadowed by darkness. i just graduated from school. i got my degree and got an internship without any worries. everything is just falling into place for me yet i am still finding it hard to thank God for all the good He has been doing. i keep feeling like i am not worthy. the scripture today made me realise that He is the light and even when we have some dark parts about us. He still shines His light over us and that confuses the devil even more. Thank you Jesus that your light overcomes all darkness

  • Such powerful scriptures through this study. To be left with such encouragement has blessed me just now. Lifes storms come just like the weathet, changing constantly. God knew we wouldnt survive without His light, the power that shines out of darkness. Sometime trials can feel like Im shut into a closet, total darkness, until daylight comes. the crack of light creeps under the crack in the door and my hope is restored, once again. Always look for the light, wait for it,and it was ll light the path to freedom.

The Lord was my light in my darkness and He helped me overcome it! God is good and faithful ❤ There is no reason to fear. Now it’s my turn to be the light in other people’s dark world

I went to bed last night thinking I could not possibly pray enough about all the darkness that is is this world. Praise God that Jesus came forth as the Light of the world and no amount of darkness will ever extinguish Him. Therein lies hope for me to rise again this morning and go out into this world, committed to shining for Him, with Him, in Him. Thank you SRT for another challenging study. I especially thank you for the last pages in the study guide – they made me review and really remember all that impacted me. I close John today but am excited to open the new study tomorrow. I know there is always more Light coming! God bless you all!

  • So thankful!
