John: Day 14

Weekly Truth

by

Today's Text: John 1:3

Memorizing Scripture is one of the best ways to carry God-breathed truth, instruction, and reproof wherever we go.

Over the four weeks of this study, we are memorizing the first five verses in John’s Gospel, pivotal words on the person and calling of Christ. This week we will memorize verse 3.

All things were created through Him,
and apart from Him not one thing was created
that has been created.
- John 1:3

Write this verse down and post it on your mirror or at your desk, in your car or on the fridge—anywhere you’ll see it often. Save the image below as your phone’s lock screen so you can read these words of truth throughout the day.

We want to be a community that is intentional about Scripture memorization. Will you join us? 4-John2017-2

Hi Anahlynn, I’m Denise. I am a high school teacher and stand in agreement with you and will add you to my prayers. Praise God!

  • Amen, Thank you, churchmouse for proclaiming this truth today. Praying the Lord takes His word to the lost of this world today.
In the chaos surrounding us, its only the work of the Holy Spirit that can reveal truth to the lost. Praising Jesus for showing me so many years ago. He is faithful ,He will do it!!!

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God. Reiterated here in John. God is the Creator. It seems to me that each one of us must settle that fact first. Once we do, then we know to Whom we are accountable for our existence. Not my parents, nor my peers, nor society, nor academics, nor my employer, nor the prevailing thinking of this generation – I am accountable to the One Who created me. God. No other standard. God.

  • Praying for you,Liz.

  • Thank you Lord for your creation. Thank you for all your care in making me.

  • Praying Liz.

  • Prayers Liz. Yesterday’s peace prayer: the lord gives his people strength; the lord blesses his people with peace. Peace and safety to you!!

    • Marytony

Amen. Praying for you Liz! Praying that you will experience the peace that surpasses all understanding. Phil 4:6-7

  • This is a comforting reminder that everything that exists belongs to God and was created by him. Everything beautiful, everything that seems evil or scary.

If anyone is reading this, it would mean a lot if you could say a small prayer for me. I decided to travel to a new city alone to try and be adventurous in 2017 — instead, I ended up in a hostel where I don’t feel safe. I’ve done everything I can, including barricading the doors etc. Just need to get through the night. Thank you.

    • Lynne

      Liz, I’m praying.

    • Sarah_Joy

      Liz,
I’ve been there. Praying God sends His angels to guard and protect you and His Holy Spirit to give you His peace. Saying those prayers for you now.

    • churchmouse

Liz, praying you were able to sleep and you wake this morning ready for this day the Lord has made. Rest assured that our good Creator did not create evil things or scary things. Evil came to this earth as a result of sin. Humanity is responsible for evil. God gives humans free will and we live in a fallen world so bad/evil things happen. But that was never His desire for us and He longs for none of us to perish. In the midst of dark times, I am much comforted by that.

    • Lisa

Oh, Liz. Praying you are safe.

    • Justine Fern

oh man Liz, that’s terrible. I’m so sorry. praying you’re able to get some rest this morning. praying you’re able to make it back home safely. and also praying for the Lords peace to calm you and quiet you. I also hope you’re able to possibly experience the city you’ve planned to visit in a way that is comfortable and enjoyable for you.

The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing. Zephaniah 3:17

      • Liz M

Thank you so much Justine and everyone else for your prayers. I am so grateful and just about moved to tears reading these comments. I spoke with the hostel management and contacted my family, and I will be fine. I woke up this morning feeling an overwhelming sense that everything would be ok and I am sure it is because I had you wonderful ladies praying for me. I am going to enjoy the next two days as much as I can, but have decided this will be my last solo trip. Unfortunately we live in a world where traveling as a young woman alone puts a target on your back, and I guess it took me two continents to fully accept this. Hope you all have an amazing start to your week and thank you again.

      • Justine Fern

praise Jesus!!! praying your next two days are filled with joy, peace, and a little fun! may you be a light in this new city, even if your time there is short! may I ask where you ventured to?

      • Justine Fern

        Cali! fun :)

  • Christina Hyde

I also can’t see the lock screen.

  • Rachel Ruhe

Hi there! I’m new to this wonderful She Reads Truth community – could you fill me in on what the “lock screen” is so I don’t miss it? Thanks so much ❤

        • Marytony

It is the image at the end of the devotional. You can use it as a lock screen in your phone as a reminder of the verse we are memorizing for this week.

      • Mary Joseph

I’m not seeing it either below or above the comments. :( you can always use the one from HeReadsTruth.com though!
