Holding Tight to Permanent: Day 7

Weekly Truth

Today's Text: Isaiah 40:8

Memorizing Scripture is one of the best ways to carry God-breathed truth, instruction, and reproof wherever we go.

This week, let’s memorize together this verse about the permanence of God and His Word:

The grass withers, the flowers fade,
but the word of our God remains forever.
- Isaiah 40:8

We want to be a community that is intentional about Scripture memorization. Will you join us? 4-Book16

  • Lexi Laymon

    Great devotional

  • Stephanie Garcia

This is the pinnacle of this devotional— the only thing that is permanent is God’s word. Holding tight to that is the way to weather any and all storms and celebrate our triumphs!!

  • Brooklynn

This verse gives me Comfort because in other words it says the grass withers, the flowers fade, but our God will be their forever more he will never leave us or forsake us he is lord.

  • This is my confirmation verse, I’ve had it memorized for about 20 years now! Made me smile to see it here!

  • So thankful for the app! Just started this week. It came into my life at the right time. This past year brought on much fear, anxiety and depression and I am riding the grief wave of multiple close losses in my life. I know God stands beside me and I am so thankful to be falling back in love with myself and God. I know incredible things are on our way that we all cannot even imagine. God is beautiful and loves to surprise us. We all all on this journey together. Sending love to all of you and your troubles. Praying for fast and healthy healing ❤️

  • I’m starting college soon and sometimes doubt and fear are already creeping in, but these seven devotionals have reminded and reaffirmed me that even though times in my life are changing, the Lord never will! Also day 5 really reached me when it said that there is “no real-life metaphor” to compare something to the security we have in God because nothing we know of is that secure. WOW. What an amazing reminder that we are held tight in His hands and that that security in Him is permanent!!!

  • this is my lock screen❤️ a great reminder every day

  • Tiner Wiin

I have to keep remembering ghat the grass withers and he flowers fade, the trouble of this world will not last but our God does. Please pray for me as I need to keep believing in this and walking through this temporary moment of troubles.

    • Skyler

I will praying that the Lord will guide you through This rough patch, and that he will stand by you in such a way that you never feel like you are alone!

    • Leah Martin

Very true, I’m going through some troubles right now also so I understand where you are, we’re all here for each other, praying for you!

  • Love this verse!❤

  • Just started this App, I love it

    • She Reads Truth

  • BrandyV77

My first week and I’m loving this app. I just stumbled across it and I’m glad I did.

    • Stormye Puffer

Brandy – I’m glad you did, too! Welcome to She Reads Truth! We’re grateful for you.

  • Marissa Payne

I truly think my friend Casey for telling me about this app. Every single one of these lessons has been amazing & a reminder of God’s love for us. No matter what happens I will not lose faith, I will take in his word & breathe it in like oxygen, and I will never let go just as he won’t.

  • This is my first week and first reading after a friend told me about this app. It has really been enlightening and encouraging. ❤️

  • Reading through this week has been such a refreshing and refueling experience for me. As someone who works in vocational ministry, it can be easy to get so invested in the “pouring out” that I end up running dangerously low to empty. I have greatly benefitted from this app! Thank you

Oxygen — day 4 was the most powerful day. I wish the last two days had been more meaty, but this week has inspired my mom and I to do another study together. Thanks!

    • Joanne Techow

I agree. I loved the oxygen one too. But its been good to re-see God’s love for us ❤️

  • Olivia Weeks

I have enjoyed this week of growth in Gods word. Looking forward to spending more time with Him.

  • Grace LaForce

Hi friends, I need to ask for prayers. I am so anxious & sorrowful about death. I fear death so much and anxiety is so great within me. My faith is so very fragile!

    • Tashona Johnson

      Psalm 94:19

19 When anxiety was great within me,
      your consolation brought me joy.

Sometime reciting scripture doesn’t always soothe things instantly. But you have to believe and trust that it will eventually… praying you be miraculously surrounded by the divine peace and comfort of our Savior… xx(hugs)

    • Megan

Grace, I too have struggled with fear and sorrow about death. It’s helped me to remember that we serve a good God who is ultimately in charge of everything. He is worthy of our trust and bigger than any problem. I will pray that God will surround you with his peace and reassurance.

    • Mary

Hello Grace. I know your fear and I also know that God will never allow anything to happen to you that is not in his will. Satan wants us to fear so much avoiding the inevitable but all he is doing is keeping us from truly living. I will be praying for you dear.

    • Joanne Techow

I think with death, for people who know Jesus, there does not have to be fear! We can rejoice because that person is going to be with our Saviour! Its a party in Heaven. For people who do not know God it is a bit more sad but that is why we need to work to share the gospel.

  • Sherree Hunsberger

My word for the year is TRUTH and this verse reminds me that God’s Word is TRUTH and TRUTH never leaves us.

  • Thank you SRT!! Happy New Years to all my virtual friends!! I am the director at our local Pregnancy Center– God blessed s abundantly through the year– but this week we had a generous donor make it possible for us to purchase a new sonogram machine that will allow our abortion minded women to not only see their baby, but hear it’s heart beat!! God is good!! Always! Pray for all pregnancy centers as we serve and save lives!!

  • Happy New Year, ladies!

  • Christina

Thank you for reminding me of the unwavering TRUTH of the Word, SRT! Oh, the beautiful hope It brings. I stand surrendered to God’s supreme lordship today, and pray that He will keep me humble this year, opening my eyes to the sin that creeps into my life. I’m so unworthy, but alas, JESUS BLED FOR ME! He paid my debt and I am overwhelmed with joy. Living in this truth is the most freeing thing. May He use me to share this life changing truth with the world around me this year. God bless, ladies!

  • What is more comforting than His steadfast and unfaltering love and favor toward us? Than His absolute constance and His eternal truth? What need we ever fear when we are under the blanket of this God?

A very Happy New Year to you ladies! Praying this morning that as we feel the mistakes, missteps, joys, and earthly failures pass away with 2016, His grace will overshadow us and His love and peace quiet us as we embark on what Oswald Chambers beautifully refers to as our “invincible future with Christ” in the new year. And even better still – may we take with us that our new beginnings are not simply on the first of the year with the incredible and merciful God that we serve. His mercies are new EVERY morning! God bless you all!!

    • churchmouse

We are under a blanket of snow here ,its so fitting to start the NY year having our world covered in white. MAY I be washed as white as this snow so He may have all the Glory.

  • SRT ladies, Happy New Year! May each one of us grow in our faith and trust in Jesus this year! I am praying for each of you!

  • Gabriela

Such a great reminder as we embark into 2017!

  • Such a beautiful reminder as we start a new year. Sometimes it is hard to remember that God is there when times are hard or scary. I am grateful for this community and for our Lord, who is always there for us.

  • churchmouse

So many stores are closed and services curtailed over the holidays. How wonderful that SRT is always here, true to their mission of women in the Word every day. I’m so grateful for all who gather here who help me put down deep roots in Truth. All else will fade away. Truth will prevail. Praying God’s abundant blessings for all of you and a happy, healthy and holy 2017!

    • J

Such a cheering thought, churchmouse – I too am so grateful that SRT is always here, a constant to return to and focus on again and again, when all the rest of the world seems to be quiet and abandoned. It’s a beautiful parallel to our ever-present, always-on-the-clock Father in heaven who is of course even more so our fixture! A very many blessings to you for a richly wonderful 2017!

  • Happy new year!!!

  • Tricia C

Happy 2017! My prayer is that this year my three children, David (27) Allison (26) and Christopher (22) would come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. His faithful love endures forever. Amen

    • J

Praying over each of them this morning, Tricia. Take heart – He is more than able! Happy 2017 to you and your family!!

  • Thankful that’ our God never changes! He loves you and me FOREVER! Happy New Year everyone! Looking forward to a new year, a new start.

  • Stephanie

God Bless us all in 2017!!! This verse is so true everything around us changes and time fades memories. What’s new becomes old , but Gods word never changes. It’s truth is there for us everyday. In good times and bad our Lord and Savior always speaks the TRUTH!!
