Advent 2016: Christ Was Born For This: Day 15

Third Sunday of Advent

by

Today's Text: Hebrews 4:15

Memorizing Scripture is one way to prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ, our perfect Priest. This week, we will memorize a reminder that Jesus knows us fully:

For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tested in every way as we are, yet without sin.
–Hebrews 4:15

Write this verse down in a place where you’ll see it often, or save the image below as your phone’s lock screen so you can read these words of truth throughout the day. As you memorize this verse, give thanks to God for the gift of His Son, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.

  • The Lords heart rejoices when we come to Him, rely on Him, trust Him. In this world, we often fall into the traps of serving false Gods, forgetting that Jesus is the only one who can bring our hearts desires to fruition. Sometimes I find myself forgetting to ask Jesus some of my deepest desires because I’m far too focused on the earthly way of obtaining it. The Lord is our Shepard. We must remember that he delights in our need for Him, and gives endlessly when we ask.

Jesus shows me how much He loves me daily. He knows how much I want to be “bad instead of good” when no one is looking. He understands my struggles and loves me through them all. He doesn’t want me to have to keep falling. He wants me to conquer them. He has helped me conquer the world all through my life! I always have something more I need to give to Him!

  • Thank you…really…

  • Ellie Shepherd

Amazing. He empathizes with our weakness. Amazing.

  • Advent season always remainds me to fast and pray, for we all are born to thirst for God’s Grace.amen

  • I believe God uses others when you are lost, hungry and searching. I want to thank my sister-in-law for letting God use her and sharing this site so that I would find it. Thanks Jenna.

It touches my heart this morning to be reminded that Jesus feels sympathy towards me. Such a tender emotion expressed by the most high God. And He directs His sympathy to my weaknesses. He knows. He sees. He understands. He sympathizes. He gets me. He truly gets me. He loves me still. So grateful this winter morn.

  • This verse tests my faith in God because of the difficult times that I am currently going through right now. Please pray that the Lord gives me strength as I need to be reminded that every battle I face is only temporary.

    • Lynne

Amanda, I am praying for you right now. May God give you His strength during this difficult period. Please read Psalm 94:16-19. This scripture has encouraged me in some hard times.

      • Brandi

Lord, when doubts fill my mind, when my heart is in turmoil, quiet me and give me renewed hope and cheer. Ps 94:16-19

    • Jess

I’m sorry that you’ve been going through difficult times, Amanda. I wanted you to know that I just said a prayer for you – that God’s strength will be made more evident in your weakness and that He will take everything that’s hurting you and turn it into something beautiful for your good and His glory. Above all I pray that you’ll come to know Jesus more intimately during this time, that your struggles will shape you more into the image of Christ, and that you’ll experience His beautiful love and peace.

Remember that Jesus knows what it’s like to hurt. He understands and He is there for you, even in your darkest hour when it feels like you’re alone. I hope you find a reason to smile this holiday season, but even if you can’t, remember that it’s okay to grieve and to weep, and one day He will wipe all your tears away. God bless you!

    • Rebekah

Amanda, I am praying for you. Please remember that God does not cause us pain or hard times, the devil does. John 10:10 (AMP) says “The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows].”
‭‭Praying for peace for you today.

    • Brandi

These could have been my words sweet sister. Praying with you and for you and for me.

    • Nath

Two of our sisters sent you to Psalm 94:16-19.. My to go is Psalm 91.I love it. ..Take refuge in his fortress, (strong & indestructible).. But also under his wings(paternal & loving).. Our God is an awesome God.. You are in my prayers .

  • To know that Jesus actually went through and has felt the same things we have in His human form really speaks volumes to me. I am not worshipping a God that doesn’t understand me, you know? Yes He never sinned but He understood our sinful nature.
