Advent 2016: Christ Was Born For This: Day 14

Grace Day

by

Today's Text: Deuteronomy 6:6-7

Take this day as an opportunity to catch up on your reading, pray, and rest in the presence of the Lord.

These words that I am giving you today are to be in your heart. Repeat them to your children. Talk about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

  • It’s only one what I really need to read today before my working routine start. It directed my attention.

  • The more I learn about Christ the more excited I get and love to talk about Him.❤️

  • Tochi Heredia

Talk about about them when you’re hurt, in pain, happy, frustrated, content. God’s words are life-giving.

  • Today I continue to study for finals. I have two more left and a lot to study. Pray that I will find peace in the middle of it and not become overwhelmed with unrealistic fears. Thanks, ladies!

  • I was looking back at the last couple of days’ scripture readings and decided to look at different translations of Lamentations 3:22-23. When I looked at the King James Version, I immediately noticed several italicized phrases in each verse – and not just any phrases, but those containing present tense verbs “is” and “are.”

“IT IS of the Lord’s great love that we ARE NOT consumed, because His compassions fail not. THEY ARE new every morning: great IS thy faithfulness.”

I am not sure why they were italicized, but seeing that really drove home yesterday’s point about our past tense approach to God. It made me realize how much of scripture is written in the present and future tense, and I don’t believe that is insignificant at all. We do not serve a past tense God – we serve a past, present, and future tense God! He not only was, but He IS and He IS TO COME (Revelation 1:8). I’m so thankful that He has brought that truth to my attention this week. Praying that it will stick with all of us each and every day as we walk with Him and learn to trust Him more.

I love this reflection Kristi! Thank you for sharing it! I’m going to go look back at those verses too!

Praying for you and a peace that will bring you truth! Proverb 3:5-6 always helps me!

    • churchmouse

Praying that you grasp His great love for you and that the perfect prayer that is always perfectly answered is “Thy will be done.” Wait for it. He will provide.

“These words…” The Word. In my heart. Repeat them. Talk about them. When I sit. When I walk. When I lie down. When I get up. An awareness that I live at all times in the presence of God. Praying that I am a faithful ambassador.

    • Suzanne

I am praying to be a faithful ambassador today! Love that churchmouse! By the way, I enjoy your comments every day – I look for them – they always encourage me. You have a gift for reflecting God’s love and His word through your own words.

  • Reading this tonight before I go to bed. I need Gods word and truth in my life right now. I’m going to read this again when I wake up :)

    • Pam
