Advent 2016: Christ Was Born For This: Day 8

Second Sunday of Advent

Today's Text: Acts 10:43

Memorizing Scripture is one way to prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ, our perfect Prophet. This week, we will memorize this verse of assurance that Jesus is the One the prophets spoke of:

All the prophets testify about Him that through His name everyone who believes in Him will receive forgiveness of sins.
–Acts 10:43

Write this verse down in a place where you’ll see it often, or save the image below as your phone’s lock screen so you can read these words of truth throughout the day. As you memorize this verse, give thanks to God for the gift of His Son, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. 4-advent2

  • I’m from Michigan, but I’m a Texan now. Hello from Austin! I’m loving this study. Especially during this season it’s a gift each day.

  • Thankful.

  • I’m still stuck on the Grace Day Scripture.. Those instructions are from God, we have to reach those that are lost.

  • Ohio!

  • great word

  • I am from Texas and this is my first study by SRT. I heard about it through #theFives. I look forward to this quiet time in His word everyday and gain great insight from the comments!

    • Cheri

I’m in Texas, too! I learned about SRT at a conference I attended locally a few months ago. I went through the Joshua study, too, and I loved it!! This is my first study to actually dive in with the online community, and I am really enjoying the interaction.

    • Lauren F

Another Texan here! Hugs from Austin! It’s amazing to have this online community?

  • I live in Abbotsford, B.C., just across the border north of Seattle. I was drawn to the study blog because of the name. “She Reads Truth” is statement and an invitation to who I want to be: a woman who seeks and soaks in God’s truth. I’m very thankful to have stumbled across this a few years ago and recently picked it up again.

    • Abby MacDougall

Lori I was so excited to discover it a couple years ago too, and in seasons where I’m not really sure where to start (I’m in seminary now but felt a lack in my personal study and growth in relationship with the Lord), this is SUCH a blessing of a resource to pick up accessible and manageable consistent plans! So happy to have this community too!

      • Lori G.

I wish you well in your seminary studies. I sometimes feel like dropping everything and diving into seminary as a means to grow and know more. I love digging into the word. The deeper one digs, the deeper and more meaningful scripture is and the more life-giving it can be when context and intent are studied. I guess I could always take one course. I am a school counsellor at a high-risk school and just started maternity leave. I have a year off to lick my wounds, enter into motherhood and hopefully enter more into God’s word, relationship and community. I could imagine that seminary would be overwhelming. I would fear that some assignments become mundane and I would aim to just “get-‘er-done”. I hope you have time to reflect or journal your “learnings” or bring them to God. I hope and pray you hear your Creator’s voice and heart in all you read and learn.

  • Jennette E.

In Indiana and this is my first study with SRT. Loving it so far and agree that the comments feature really adds to it. Looking forward to continuing with this study and others going forward.

  • I am in Idaho and this is my first study with SRT and I’m enjoying it very much!

    • Carolyn Lawrence

Hi, from North Carolina! So happy the IF:Equip gals introduced us to SRT! Hope all you “SHEs” will all check out IF:Gathering 2017 and join the “IFsisters” in February. Better together. Thank you for this study.

  • Southeastern Oklahoma!! 6th SRT study. Love it all.

  • Gabrielle

I’m currently living in Tampa FL but grew up in central MA and spent 12 years in west TN. This is my first SRT study and I’m loving it so far. I’ve just recently accepted Jesus into my heart and this study has really helped me get started!

    • sarah

I am also in the Tampa area! Blessings to you, sister!

      • Gabrielle

Ah that is wonderful to hear! I’m still very new to the area (less than a year) so it’s nice to find like-minded people in the area :)

    • Selina

GaBrielle I am so glad you are a part of this study too. So, excited for you. Best choice you will ever make. Only relationship in the world that will go on forever and ever. Always remember that.

      Hi Robin!
So glad you are joining us! She Reads Truth has been my source for devotions for about 3 years now and I still love it! Loving authors, staff, and readers, and devotions that speak biblical truth to my heart. I always recommend it to anyone interested in digging deeper into God’s word, especially with a wonderful group of ladies!

  • churchmouse

Jesus. The only one. Believe in Him. Receive forgiveness. Today. Do it today.

  • I have never followed she reads truth’s studies but always followed social media. So glad I decided to try one! Where is everyone from! I live in Indiana and would love to meet with other women of God sometime!

    • DebbieinAZ

Good Morning. I’m from Sunny Arizona. Hope you enjoy this and all of the studies here. I’ve been doing them for several years and I really enjoy them. But what I love the most are the comments. Though I haven’t commented very much, I feel as though I know these women personally. And I pray for you all often.

Hope you have a wonderful advent season. God bless you.

    • Lynne

Today is our first snowfall of the season. As I read today, I looked out the window and saw the ground covered in beautiful, white snowflakes. It reminds me of the verse and how we’re ‘covered’ through His forgiveness, if we believe. The lock screen could not have been more appropriate for the my world outside today.

    • Jessica

Good morning! I’m in north Florida near Panama City and this is my fourth study. They are incredible! I have enjoyed them all and like @DebbieinAZ, I love the comments too. Many of them help me gain a richer perspective on the lesson. It’s just wonderful to be a part of this community of women, seeking knowledge of God’s word together and praying for each other on a daily basis.

    • Laura

Where in Indiana? I’m from Chicago.

    • Bethany

      I’m a Canadian over here!

    • Naomi

And I’m in Southern Arizona. Welcome Rachel! I have been doing SRT studies for about a year and a half. It has totally transformed my devotional time. I grew up a preacher’s kid, but never have I looked forward to my daily devotions as when I started the SRT studies.

    • Nicole

Love this, Rachel! I’m in Indiana too…northeast IN! <3
